One special evening - I have spent the week-end in Marta (see more photos of the town on this post) and Saturday, in the evening, we went to the historical centre for the event "Cannaiola in Borgo" (Cannaiola in the hamlet). Cannaiola is the local famous wine but, unfortunately, my wife and I are teetotal.
Local food, good wine, music, artists, photos and arts all together in a very beautiful place for a special evening.
Running - This week I have run 3 times with start at 06.30 a.m. when the sun is down again and the route is almost completely in the shadow. For this reason I was less slow with a pace 30"-45"/km faster than the week before.
Monday: 8,0 km (flat);
Wednesday: 10,7 km (hilly);
Friday: 9,7 km (ondulate).
In Italy now it's possible to race in person but, generally, the participation is limited. In some near cities only 100 participants are allowed. However I prefer to not race until October because of the heat.
How was your running week? Any event in your city?
Pretty nice that you can run before the sun is up and the day gets warm! We are having more races here and there, but definitely not what we are used to. Plus COVID is spreading again, so who knows what will happen?
ReplyDeleteHere Covid is spreading too. Let's keep the fingers crossed.
DeleteA very hot week here so very little running until it cooled down this weekend and I went all over the place! What lovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteHere the week end was terrible: strong wind from Africa and heat!
DeleteRain, where are you?
I'm in Birmingham, in the middle of England. Just the heat here!
DeleteGlad to hear that you ran in a cool part of the day. That is good and hope you have a wonderful new week.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a wonderful week you too.
DeleteWe still have cool and rainy weather in Switzerland, which I am very grateful for.
ReplyDeleteNice that you could increase your pace by 30-45 seconds/km, Stefano!
I just read about the Cannaiola wine. I see that it's less than 24 hours old, is that right? So it would be more like slightly fermented grape juice?
I am not an expert of wines because I am teetotal. However I ask about Cannaiola to a sommelier friend of mine and, when I will come back to Marta I get some brochure of the wine for you. Moreover I see if it's possible to send a couple of bottles to Switzerland.
DeleteOh, that would be cool! Thank you for investigating!

ReplyDeleteCheers
This is the right time to visit near towns for local tunes and beverages (and food).
DeleteThat sounds like a special evening, indeed! I don't drink either. My husband likes wine, and used to have a little after dinner, but he stopped recently (not quite sure why).
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I have a son and a daughter: all of us don't drink wine.
DeleteMaybe we are losing something of good.....
I'll be fascinated to read about your races when you start again- sounds like there are some very different protocols in Italy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my recent blog post. Sometimes I over-think things, and just hearing someone simply say "don't worry, your knees will be fine" made me feel much better!
We have to think positive. We, the runners, sometimes feel some pain but often it is nothing of important: a couple more of days of rest and we are able to run again.
DeleteI live near Rome but I prefer the less crowded races in the near towns: scenic routes, swag with local products (wine and/or food) and a different day in a beautiful place.
We've had a significant heat wave for the past almost two weeks, and I really noticed it on my ride Sunday afternoon. I'm usually running in the early morning, so I don't feel the heat as much. At least with cycling, one gets a little "breeze" just from moving ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I played rugby our trainer used to say: every season has its sport.
DeleteBut you are doing better: increasing cycling without skipping the running workouts/races.
Now we are in the middle of a heat wave.
Looks like a fun evening. I feel you on the heat. Running very early or on the treadmill are the only options. I am grateful I am not training for a marathon.
ReplyDeleteTreadmill is my last option.
DeleteThe last time that I did a training in summer for a marathon was in 2006: it was very hard.
that is great that you are getting in some good early morning runs in. We don't have any big or long distance runs yet in DC but I have one coming up in September and I am very excited. I miss traveling so thanks for sharing your photos. Happy running!
ReplyDeleteI miss traveling too. My last trip was in 2019 before the lockdown.
DeleteGood luck on your race in September!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun evening, I would like the wine and music!
Wonderful views and photos. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Before the pandemic in these towns an event every day with local food, music, art ecc.
DeleteHave a good sunday.
