One Day in Tuscia - On January 2nd my wife and I spent one day in Tuscia (Viterbo province) and we visited 2 beautiful ancient towns: Soriano nel Cimino and Capodimonte.
In the morning we visited Soriano nel Cimino, a town that develops in height on the slopes of the Cimini mountains, where we bought the typical “ciambellette”, a delicious local treat.
Later we went to Capodimonte, where we arrived at 07:00 p.m., to see the Christmas lights: we were surprised to see the town completely deserted; as you can see from the photos we didn't meet a single person on the streets. I must admit that I was fascinated anyway by that unreal atmosphere brightened by the lights.

Injury update - I'm slowing healing. I miss running, but I've been walking about 1 hour a day, covering more than 5 km each time. Tomorrow I will get the x-ray control and then the doctor will decide if and when I can start to run again.
Do you like to visit ancient towns?
Which was the last hamlet you visited?
Have a good week ahead
Righteous Captures There Brother BLK
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you. Have a nice day.
DeleteThose Christmas lights are so beautiful. Interesting that you were the only people out there! But nice to have it all to yourselves to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the doctor tomorrow! i hope you get good news.
We were the only people, I think, for 2 reasons: the town has only 1600 residents and the night was very cold and windy.
DeleteAbout the doctor no news until Friday.
Ancient towns are fascinating. I do love visiting them. The night light ups are very impressive
ReplyDeleteI like to visit the ancient towns too. They are special!
DeleteThe towns looks beautiful, I like all the Christmas decorations and lights. Where are all the people? I hope you get the all clear from your doctor. Take care, have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAll the people were at home. The night was cold and windy and all the shops were closed.
DeleteNo news from the doctor until Friday.
Have a great week you too.
ReplyDeleteThank you. On Friday I will know if can run again.
DeleteHave a nice day.

ReplyDeleteThank you. On Friday I will know if can run again.
DeleteHave a nice day.
The photos of the areas are wonderful to see, those Christmas lights are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIf we had towns before the 1800's I would love to visit them...I do like visiting the ones we have though.
You live in a very beautiful area too, I would like to visit it.
DeleteAbsolutely stunning! The photos capture the serene beauty of Soriano nel Cimino and Capodimonte in a magical light.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a swift recovery and hoping the doctor gives you the green light to resume running soon, Stefano.
In that area all the towns are beautiful and quiet.
DeleteThank you. For the green light I have to wait until Friday but I think I need not less than other 10 days.
I'm glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteCapodimonte looks amazing, especially with deserted streets. I seem to remember the name, you've been there before, right?
Are the ciambellette like bread or sweet like cake?
Yes, I often go to Capodimonte by the Bolsena lake.
DeleteThe ciambellette are like bread with wine and anise.
Los pueblos antiguos tienen mucho encanto, bonitas fotografías.
ReplyDeleteQue te recuperes pronto.
Saludos.
Thank you.
DeleteAll the towns in that corner of my region are similar.
Have a nice day.
Capodimonte looks magical with the lights and no people! Our ancient town and hamlets are nothing like yours, ours are surrounded by mountains or forests or are in wide open prairie areas.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for positive words from your Doctor!
Mountains, forests and prairie areas are amazing too.
DeleteAbout the doctor .... keeping my fingers crossed.
Impressive levels of walking! In North America we don’t have ancient towns!
ReplyDeleteBut you also have many wonderful places to visit.
DeleteThat must´ve been an interesting experience with the "abandoned" town!
ReplyDeleteI loved the old cities of Tuscany and I am sad I don´t speak Italian, or am I? I love Adriano Celentano, but if I understood I probably wouldn´t like what I hear... And those political songs... there is deepl :-)
You don't need to speak Italian to visit Tuscany and Tuscia.
DeleteCelentano is a good singer but he is not among my favorite.
I prefer the old groups like Le Orme and Nomadi and the current singers Zucchero and Vasco Rossi.
What beautiful towns and the festive lights make them all the more prettier to see. Sorry to read about your accident but glad you are healing. Happy 2024.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I need time to heal but I don't give up, I'll come back to run despite the injures and the age.
DeleteBoa tarde e um excelente segunda-feira. Desejo recuperação total meu querido amigo. Muita saúde. As fotos ficaram maravilhosas.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHave a nice day.
That is really wild that you had the streets to yourself. It makes it feel a little mysterious when no one is around like that. I am so glad you are starting to feel better. Great job walking everyday!
ReplyDeleteIn winter, by night, it's usual there to see the desert streets.
DeleteThank you. I cannot wait for coming back to run.
Pretty Christmas lights :D
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a good week end.

ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm healing and very soon I'll run again.
DeleteThank you. I love these places too. Are you ready for a new trip?
ReplyDeleteI hope you received good news from your doctor and can resume running soon, Stefano.
ReplyDeleteWhen we visited Italy several years ago in addition to spending time in Rome and Florence, we visited Siena, San Gimignano, and Chianti. I would love to go back sometime soon!
The things go better and the rib is healed but I need again a couple of medical tests for the head trauma.
DeleteI love Tuscany! I hope you return to Italy soon.

DeleteBoa tarde de domingo e bom início de semana. Obrigado pela visita e comentário, meu amigo querido.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a nice day.
DeleteHope your appointment went well and your recovery is progressing quickly. What a beautiful little town. I wonder why it was completely deserted??
ReplyDeleteI feel better and I'm running. Thank you.
DeleteThe town was deserted because it has only 1600 residents, the nights are very cold and all the (few) shops and restaurants were closed.
Exploring Soriano nel Cimino in the morning and snagging some "ciambellette" sounds like a delightful start to your day! It's interesting how Capodimonte was deserted when you arrived, but the Christmas lights created a magical, almost surreal atmosphere. Sometimes unexpected moments like these make for the most memorable experiences. Read my new blog post at the end.
