Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

A little break and Capodimonte

Running update - This has been a very difficult week for my running. On monday I planned to run 10 km but I came back home walking after 8 km; wednesday I stopped my run after 1 km because I felt terribly weak and tired. For this reason I took 3 days off to recover. This morning I tried to run again and I succeeded in doing 10,7 km, on an ondulate path, without any problem.

In consideration of the difficulty of being able to follow a schedule because of the heat and the humidity I made the decision to not enter any race until october and running 3 days a week instead of every other day.

It’s difficult but I must learn to listen to my (old) body, I don’t want that the same of 2 year ago happens, when I had to take many days off. At that time, for the stress due to the efforts, I got a very painful aphtous stomatitis on my tongue: drinking and eating became very difficult.

A Jump in the past - In the past racing in summer was not a problem for me like now. Here are the photos of 2 races in 2011.

Capodimonte – This week some photos of Capodimonte, a beautiful hamlet on the Bolsena Lake. Before the lockdown an important triathlon competition was held in the lake and on the lakefront.

Have a good Sunday

  1. I feel you on the slowing down...summer is really tough on me. I am envious of runners who don't seem affected by the heat. But it looks like you were able to while away the time in a beautiful place!

    1. Capodimonte is a very relaxing place to spend the time: the ancient hamlet, the lake, the country, the local food .... and a very scenic route to run through!

  2. Scaling back running until it's cooler out sounds wise. I sort of wish Hood to Coast was later in the year but hopefully it won't be too hot there. Your pics of Capodimente are beautiful.

    1. I see that Hood to Coast is at the end of August. I am sure you have a strategy to race in that period. I remember many years ago (1987, aug. 30th) a 12 km race in the morning in Rome. There was a mistake a we ran 2 km. more. The heat was terrible and we jumped in every fountain we met.

  3. Nice photos, I really like the clock tower, it's impressive! We're all slowing down as we age, not fun but that's the way it is. All we can do is adapt. :) Have a good week ahead.

Taking a breat and listening to your body is a great move. You say you are old - but you don't look it, Stefano!

    1. Thank you but .... I am.
Capodimonte is perfect for the triathlon and for running with many routes on the road, by and around the lake and through the country.

  5. Again, more beautiful pics :-) Capidimonte looks like place rich with history. It’s always wise to listen to & respect one’s body, no matter the season. I do believe we feel the struggles a bit more in the heat of summer, though.

    1. Yes, Capodimonte is another Etruscan and medieval town beautiful to visit.
You are right, no matter the season but the latest 3 summers were for my running a real problem.

  8. I'm glad to hear that your short break from running wasn't due to injury! Sounds like you just needed a rest- the heat really does make it hard. I hope this week is going well for you! Love the photos as always.

    1. Thank you. The only way to "defeat" the heat is running in early morning. Today I made the workout at 06:00 and I was not the only one, I met other runners!
