Running update - After 10 days of stop due to the inflammation of the prostate, at last I can come back to follow my usual routine: running every other day. I only have 2 goals: more than 10 km every workout and not less than one race per month.
Here summer is already come, the heat is terrible and the humidity is high so I run at 06:30 a.m. Now I have a doubt: next race is Sunday but the start is at 10:30 a.m. so I am not sure to participate even if the distance is short (only 5,3 km) however the place, Canale Monterano, is a little beautiful hamlet.
Weekly Run Down:
Monday: 8,7 km;
Wednesday: 9,7 km;
Friday: 10 km;
Sunday 10,7 km.
A jump in the past: running memories in June.
2003 - Civitavecchia
2012 - Rome
2017 - Civitavecchia
Grandchildren - I have 4 grandsons and I taught them to love animals. Here is Alessandro, the youngest (2 y.o.) while looking at the ants:
and this is Gabriele (7 y.o.) who got the green belt 2 days ago:
Sounds like a tough decision about next Sunday's race. How long can you wait until you have to decide?
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of your grandsons! I'm glad you are teaching them to appreciate ants. Such amazing little creatures.
I made the decision to not participate in the race: too hot at 10:30 a.m.
DeleteI am lucky because my grandsons are animal lovers.
It rained cats and dogs here this morning. Still raining now, but not as much.
ReplyDeleteGrandson looks like he loves his ant friends! 😃
I like sunny days, to answer your question!
DeletePlease send a little of your rain here!
DeleteWe've just had a hugely rainy day and it's about to pour with rain again just in time for running club ... I prefer the sun because my husband has Seasonal Affective Disorder and feels better when it's bright. Love the race and family pictures!
ReplyDeleteMy problem with the season is allergy. However I don't like summer: too hot. I admit that I don't dislike winter because here the weather is not so bad in that season. Moreover I live in a very old city and the lights of the ancient streets are amazing.
DeleteRain On And Run Like The Wind Brother BLK
ReplyDeleteCheers
I like to run under the rain but because of my age I cannot run anymore like the wind!
DeleteRaining off and on here today with some thunder. Love the rainbow.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the rainbow will appear soon in the sky over you.
Deletewe have hot temperature since last week...
ReplyDeletegood luck for your race.....
and congratulation to your grandson for his green belt...
Thank you.
DeleteI made the decision to not run the race. At 10:30 a.m. the temperature is too hot.
Anche qui a Vr un gran caldo. È andato aumentando visibilmente negli ultimi giorni...
ReplyDeleteComplimenti per i bei nipotini!
Anche qui il caldo è in aumento. L'estate non è la mia stagione preferita.
DeleteWho on earth schedules a summer race for a late morning start? Yikes. Not sure if I'd do it. The heat is tough for me. Good luck to you! And congrats to your grandson on his green belt!
ReplyDeleteDifficult to understand why the start is in middle morning.
DeleteHeat is tough for me too. I will not race.
I don't mind rainy days, but I love a sunny day, especially when it's not humid. Here in Virginia, our humidity is starting to sneak in, but I shouldn't complain because we've had such a beautiful spring.
ReplyDeleteI hope it works out so you can run your race, but I guess it will be pretty miserable unless you have cooler weather come through. In Italy, do races often start that late in the morning during the summer?
Thanks for sharing pictures of two of your grandsons. I love how the little one is focused on his ant friends. And congrats to your other grandson on his green belt!
Thank you for the comment about my grandsons.
DeleteIn Italy races usually start in the evening. I made the decision to not participate.
I remember again how beautiful my trip to Virginia long time ago (2000) was.
It’s been cold and wet here. No forest fires though!
ReplyDeleteHope you are back in your best running shape soon. Take care in that heat!
Glad to know that there are not forest fires.
DeleteBe sure that I will take care in the heat: no races and no workouts in middle morning.
I want both wet and sunny days so I can compare.
ReplyDeleteIn summer I would like to enjoy more rainy days. Too hot here.
DeleteYou are doing well then.
ReplyDeleteYour grandsons are nice, one watching ants obviously fascinated, the other congratulations.
I prefer sunny days but we do have to have rain.
Thank you.
DeleteSummer here is too hot and winter not so bad so .... I prefer winter.
Summer, with all its heat and humidity, is my least favourite season. I think you would be wise not to run in those conditions.
ReplyDeleteSummer is my least favorite season too. I follow your advice: I will not run at 10:30 a.m.
DeleteThat's a real late start or a summer race! I love all your involvement with your grandkids; they're lucky to have such a fantastic active role model as yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words.
DeletePrefiero el frio y tienes lindos nietos. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI prefer cold too.
We had a spell of hot weather but it looks like the temps have been cooling off for the past couple of days.
ReplyDeleteYour grandsons are adorable!
Blessings, Stefano
Thank you.
DeleteHere it's always hotter. Rain rain where are you?
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThe hot and humid days are awful, I can not imagine running in a race. I enjoy my early morning walks, before it gets too hot. Cute photos of your grandsons. Take care, have a wonderful week.
Enjoy your walks. I love walking too especially through the country under the shadow of the trees.
DeleteCongrats to Gabriele on getting his green belt! I think the rainbow in your last photo is the promise of more cool days... hopefully sooner than later. Maybe even a little rain just before 10:30am race!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteUnfortunately no cool days, we are under a heat wave. Have a good week.
