Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

Stung by a tick

Running update - Following my consolidated routine also last week I have run every other day at 06:30 a.m.

Tuesday: 10 km;

Thursday: 11,7 km;

Saturday: 9,5 km.

Upcoming races - No races in July for 2 reasons:

1 - Rome (only 1 hour driving from my hometown) is full of running events but it’s difficult to find a parking near the start and there are many restrictions for the car traffic;

2 - In summer I don’t enter races when the start is later than 08:00 a.m.

That said, the next possible events will be in august with the start in evening. My favorite is on aug. 16: Sovana - Sorano: 9,6 km between 2 ancient hamlets in Tuscany.

Stung by a tick - Yesterday while I was in the garden to take pictures of sunflowers I was stung on my back by a tick (see pictures below); however I didn’t kill the bug. At the moment I don’t have any problem but I know that possible symptoms could appear after 4 days.

… and today a relaxing lunch on the hills eating local food!

Have you ever had problems with the bugs?

  1. We have ticks here, but they are smaller than that. They tend to hold on.

  3. It looks like you were able to remove it right away. Usually we don't worry about tick bites unless they are on your body longer than 24-72 hours. It sounds like you'll be ok!

  7. That lunch place looks lovely!
    What is your public transportation like to get into Rome? Zurich has very few parking spots, too, but runners are encouraged to come by bus and train (and it's usually included in the race entry fee).

    1. Believe me that place (Tolfa) is lovely, beautiful and quit.
      In my opinion racing MUST be a pleasure, if I have to catch a train and after one or two buses to go to the start it becomes a stress so I prefer to not participate.

  9. Ticks are horrible. I hope you have no adverse side effects from the bite. Enjoy your month of no racing. Rome is so hot in July anyway. The flowers are beautiful. We don't have any sunflowers blooming here yet, hopefully soon. Enjoy that outdoor dining!

      Impossible to race in Rome in July morning.

  10. Most ticks are harmless but some transmit awful diseases. It's possible that the entomology faculty at one of the local universities might be able to identify the species for you to give you peace of mind.

  11. I got bit by a tick once and pulled it out of my lower back and nothing happened so I hope you'll be fine too. Interesting to read that you saw a similiar sculpture like my books at the library. You should take a photo next time you see it. Have a wonderful evening.

      Yes, Rome is the perfect location for a running race. There I ran my first and second marathon an age ago (1990 and 1991).
