May was a good month regarding running because I participated in 3 races and did good workouts. The main feature is that such races were not very attended also due to the difficulty of the routes and the competition of the contemporary events taking place in Rome. In fact, in Corchiano (may 14) we were 107 (may 14), in Civitavecchia 39 (may 21) and in Montalto 88 (may 28).
On the positive side it must be said that these races are generally held in very characteristic towns, founded by the Etruscans and then further developed in the Middle Ages where, after the race, you can spend a few hours in total relax, eating genuine food and buying local products.
In the meantime, I have received the photos of the Civitavecchia race:
June started very badly. After a first slow workout to recover from the effort of the Montalto race (28.05) I had to stop due to a strong inflammation of the prostate and I'm currently being treated with antibiotics. I have an appointment with the specialist next week. This is a problem that sometimes, even if seldom, reappears. Unfortunately I am old and this is one of the drawbacks of my age.
ugh on the prostrate issue...hope you're feeling better soon! I LOVE Italian food! I don't think I've tried gnocchi (I'm sure I'd like it, though), but I've eaten a lot of fettuccine in my time ;-)
ReplyDeleteGnocchi are a typical local dish. Please let me know what you think when you will try them.
DeleteWhat a beautiful place to run!
ReplyDeleteThe gnocchi looks delicious. I like how they serve it in the pan. I don't think I have ever had it, but I can just tell it must be good. 😊
I think you have to try this delicious Italian dish.
DeleteI hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThe time with your grandchildren was well spent and sounds lovely!
Take care.
Thank you.
DeleteI love to spend my time with my grandsons: it's a real pleasure.
My family are big fans of Italian food!
ReplyDeleteI had gnocchi in Cinque Terre and absolutely loved it.
So far, I've only eaten store-bought fettuccini but I would love to try the home-made ones.

Happy Sunday, Stefano!
I have just commented as anonymous (sorry for the mistake) the post you have linked. 5 Terre is a beautiful place with many wonderful towns but there is a problem in this period: too many people go there and the Mayors are thinking of setting up a limited number of visitors.
DeleteThe photos are really lovely and good to see.
ReplyDeleteHope you get on alright at the Doctor when you go and the report is favourable.
A bit of Italian food is alright but for some reason I'm not mad about tomato sauces..
Thank you.
DeleteIndeed I am also not mad about tomato sauces in fact, as you can see in the photo, my gnocchi was topped with mushrooms and truffles.
Sorry that your June didn't start so well! But it sounds like you've got it under control.
ReplyDeleteYes to gnocchi and fettuccine! We have that a lot in Switzerland, thanks to our neighbours in the south!
Maybe I know who are your neighbors in the south......
DeleteI buy both gnocchi and fettuccine at our local Italian deli, although both are also available in supermarkets. Delicious food with so many options for preparation. If I had to choose one national food above all others it would be Italian. That would include wine of course!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like Italian food.
DeleteI have a big problem: unfortunately I don't drink wine.
I'm a big fan of all things Italian--including that scenery along your race course and pasta, lol
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your health issues. Getting older is not so much fun, right? I'm having some of my own struggles here...
When a trip to Italy?
DeleteI hope you solve soon your struggles.
My wife is part German and Italian so I have the pleasure of eating gnocchi and fettuccine. Good luck with the doctors, hope everything ends up being fine.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteAnd I think that those dishes are not the only pleasure about german and Italian food.
There is nothing better than Italian food! We are going to be in Rome for a few days in July and I can’t wait to eat there and of course run. I hope you are feeling better soon
ReplyDeleteGlad you come to visit Rome. As you know I live with my family near Rome, please let us now if you and your family would like to make a tour around here. Moreover I could suggest some good races.
DeleteWhat is better than to enjoy gnocchi in a town famous for potatoes!?! I am glad you were able to participate in so many races and in such beautiful locations, that is a great combination. I also love that you were able to spend time with the grandkids before and after the one races!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comment. Spending time with the grandkids is priceless.
DeleteMe alegra que te haya ido bien en la carrera. Lindo tu pueblo me gusta la comida italiana. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteTi ringrazio. Sono felice di sapere che ti piace la cucina italiana.
DeleteDig It - Excellent Photos As Always
ReplyDeleteStay Rowdy,
Cheers
Great you could really start running again, sad for the setback.
ReplyDeleteWhen we traveled Tuscany with a group we always ended up in hotels that offered "non-Italian" food, very sad. But when we were to roam lose we went to the little stalls in the towns and THAT was real, yummy Italian food then!
We have Sicilian guys running the oldest Pizza place of Braunschweig and it comes pretty close, too.
Do you know anyone who does NOT like Italian food? I don´t! ;-)
In Tuscany food is delicious. I love that Region.
DeletePizza is my favorite dish and I am sure that those Sicilian guys know the right recipe to do it well.
Oh my goodness, I can only dream of how delicious your homemade gnocchi must have been! And as many have said before me, who doesn't love Italian food?
ReplyDeleteI remember again gnocchi cooked by my grandma when I was a kid!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love Italian food, pasta and pizza are favorites. Love the views of the village, looks like a great place to spend time with your grandchildren.
I do hope you are feeling better! Take care, have a happy weekend.
I feel a little better, thank you.
DeletePasta and pizza are my favorite too.
Have a good Sunday,
i think pasta is my favorite food...and the hubs and i eat it all the time. gnocchi is a favorite too!!!
