At last the weather cooled down and, perhaps, we are able to come back to the “normal life”. In fact, yesterday evening, after a lot of time, my wife and I went for a walk to the downtown (we live 5 minutes walking far from it). We couldn’t believe: walking without the overwhelming heat over us!
This is a young blackbird that I rescued some months ago, during a workout, after a hit and run:
Running update - This week I have run 4 times:
Monday: 10,7 km (ondulate);
Wednesday: 9,7 km (ondulate);
Friday: 10,4 km (ondulate) with my son Paolo (42 y.o.) who started to run again to participate in some races. He covered the distance of 7 km: not so bad after a week of stop and a cure of antibiotics for a sore throat;
Sunday: 10,7 km on the same route of monday. Thanks to the perfect weather I was 4 minutes faster.
I think that by the next week increasing mileage and pace will be possible.
Racing – Many races continue to be cancelled or postponed. For this reason I prefer to sign up at the last minute when I am sure that the race will take place.
For this year in my wishing list there are some interesting events through scenic and historical routes:
Oct. 03: Roma Appia Run (km. 13);
Oct. 17: Roma/Ostia half marathon;
Roma/Ostia 2001:
Dec. 05: Canino Maratonina Olio DOP (km. 10).
Maratonina Olio Dop 2019:
lovely swans and sweet black bird!! nice to see you running!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Unfortunately the swans are not anymore here. They continued their journey to north.
DeleteIt would be great if our weather started to cool off as well. I hope you get to experience one of those races in October!
ReplyDeleteFor sure I will run the Canino race on Dec. 5th. Closest to my city and not crowded.
DeleteYay for cooler weather!
ReplyDeleteYou have some great races lined up. Will your son be doing the races as well?
He will do the Canino race and maybe the Appia Run.
DeleteI'm ready for a cool off! It was hot in Alabama, but here in Chicago, we are having some of that southern style heat and humidity. Today it is 96F!!! Real feel 103F! It's a gross as it sounds. But a cool off is coming.
ReplyDeleteA lot of races are going virtual here or being canceled. I'm glad I'm out of contention right now.
Very hot there!
DeleteGet well soon and be ready for the races in person when it will be possible again. All the best.
Interesting to see the tails on the sheep, here they take off the tails :)
ReplyDeleteThe blackbird is a sweetie.
What pleasant weather, I'm waiting for the warmth soon to come as it's getting closer to spring here.
The poor blackbird didn't survive after the hit and run. We were very sad for him.
DeleteI love the animals and I often rescue many wounded birds and some bats (a bat family live under my roof).
Run On Brother - Enjoy Those Walks As Well - Stay Strong
ReplyDeleteCheers
Running and walking, what else?
DeleteSea breezes help a lot! I hope that it continues to be cool for you & that you are able to race.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Cannot wait for coming back to race in person.
DeleteLove the photos especially the sweet little bird.
ReplyDeleteKeep running, Black Knight!
Thank you. Unfortunately the sweet little bird didn't survive despite all the cures.
DeleteSo sad to hear this. God bless your kind heart.
DeleteRIP little black bird.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteYour weather sounds lovely for walking and running. The bird is cute, you are so nice to rescue the young bird. The swans are beautiful.
Take care, have a great day!
Thank you. My city is a stop on the journey of the swans to north. Have a good day!
DeleteThose temperatures sound perfect! Send some my way, please! :) I love that you are able to walk to town - it sounds like a lovely walk! Great job with running this week, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And tomorrow evening a drink (no alcohol) in the medieval district of my city.
DeleteWell, I'm not ready for the cool-off...I love the heat because our winters are so brutal in Iowa. By the way, I just returned from an early-morning bike ride...59F! Brrrrr!!!!!
ReplyDelete59F would be perfect for a run but for a bike ride ..... Brrrr!!!!!
DeleteHere winter is not brutal and we rarely see the snow.
So you ran 10k on Monday and then on Sunday you were 4 minutes faster? That's a lot! The weather really does make a huge difference. I hope it continues to be cooler for you.
ReplyDeleteYes, the weather makes a huge difference. Yesterday, at last, I could do a workout 13,8 km (8,6 m) long. Now I can increase mileage and pace.
DeleteCheers to a break in the heat! The nights and mornings are cooler here as well and it's SO nice. Love the menagerie of animals. There are very few races here this fall. Not sure how the Chicago Marathon is scheduled to happen, but I'm sure the city needing money is a big part of it.
ReplyDeleteHere the organizers are trying not to cancel the races but they accept a very limited number of runners who must sign up well in advance. For this reason I prefer to wait.
DeleteOur weather finally cooled off yesterday and i am loving it!
ReplyDeleteSo now you can improve mileage and speed. All the best!
Delete"...young blackbird that I rescued some months ago, during a workout, after a hit and run"
ReplyDeleteHow is he now?
Unfortunately he died the day after.
DeleteI loved the cute little black bird that you rescued. I don't know if it's just me, but I am so much more protective of little birds every year I get older! I am always trying to chase roadrunners away from the little birds they try to eat!!
