Summer is always here and the heat rules. I follow the routine planned for this season: running every other day in early morning and going to the beach with my wife and our grandson every day.
I don’t like the seaside resort where we go because it is on the sand (see the pictures); I prefer the rocks with the deep water below but, with a child 5 y.o., the sandy place is better because less dangerous.
This week I have run 3 times:
Tuesday: 9,5 km ondulate;
Thursday: 9,6 km ondulate;
Saturday: 9,7 km mainly flat.
The plan is only one again: to not skip any workout and no matter the speed.
I will come back to work on the distance and the pace when the weather cool down. However I noticed that also my local running friends of my same age have the same problems because of the heat: the pace is slower and the runs are shorter.
Taking advantage of this “bad” situation (short mileage and slow pace) I made the decision to change my usual routes to run through characteristic parts of my city.
Here are some places.

The seafront:

What are your favorite routes? Do you run through the city?
Well done for surviving the heat, Stefano!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos from your hometown, I like the medieval district best. I sometimes run through the city but it get's quite busy with pedestrians and bikes, so I prefer the countryside.
By when are you expecting cooler autumn weather?
Thank you. I also prefer the countryside: less cars, no noise a beautiful landscape.
DeleteI have fear that autumn weather is far again!
Lovely pictures! You are doing a great job of dealing with the heat. I don't live anywhere near a city so my routes are pretty rural or residential.
ReplyDeleteI love the rural routes. I often go to the near towns to run through such routes but .... not in summer!!!!
DeleteIt's always a smart move to respect the weather...keeping the mileage low and slow is ideal in the heat. As always, your pics are so beautiful!
ReplyDelete... and, what a pity, no racing! But I prefer to not risk my health.

ReplyDeleteCheers
I like to "visit" the suburbs here because they are full of history.
DeleteLovely photos. We usually go to the sand here for the beach and stay away from rocks...
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful memories of my youth when my mom brought me to a seaside resort where we had both sand and rocks. Now that resort doesn't exist anymore. "Little Paradise" was its name!!!!!
Deletesummer running is definitely an extra challenge! I love that you take your grandson to the beach everyday
ReplyDeleteThe time spent with the grandsons is wonderful time.
DeleteI have 4 grandsons: 12 y.o., 9 y.o., 5 y.o. and 2 months old.
beautiful images, i really like the colorful umbrellas!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. On the beach I need to stay under the shadow.
DeleteYou live in a beautiful city!!! I live outside of Chicago and I don't often run in my town--it's not really scenic, just a typical suburb. I do love to run in Chicago, especially along the lakefront. It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI remember the Chicago lakefront, I visited the city many years ago, and I am sure that a run there is priceless!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views of the beach, I am sure your grandson loves the sand and water. Looks like a wonderful place to visit. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Yes he likes to play with the sand and to swim. We spend very good time with him.

ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't believe the places I run. Well, walk. I have a treadmill in a garage and it faces a wall. I have to imagine where I am and it is glorious! 😂
Please forgive but I have read your comment only now because the pc put it on spam.
DeleteI run through and around the city, mainly near the sea.
Glad you like to run on a treadmill.
Buone corse! Grazie di essere passato dal mio blog.
ReplyDeleteGrazie. Chiedo scusa per aver risposto solo ora ma il pc aveva messo il tuo commento nello spam.
