Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

August 2021

August 2021: August was not an easy month for my running: too hot and humid. However, even if the pace was very slow, I succeeded in following my “every other day run” plan, but to do it I had to go out in early morning, at 06:30 a.m.

Many other runners did the same, in fact I met a lot of them during my workouts.

Because of my “weakness” and the lack of interesting events in person I didn’t participate in any race.

Stats: 156,6 km (97,3 m) in 16 workouts.

September Goals: Only improving speed and mileage. I hope to race in person in October.

August old memories:

1988 - Rome 5 Ponti Half Marathon: 1:32:12

33 years ago, when we were “running pioneers”, I did this scenic race named 5 Ponti (5 Bridges) because we had to cross the main bridges of Rome. Despite the good finishing time (for my standard of course) I was 120 of 250: yes only 250 runners!

2017 – Arlena di Castro 8 km: 45:19

One and half year after the terrible incident at my right shoulder, I raced, under a hot sun, in this beautiful little town in Tuscia Region, on a terrible route (3 laps) through narrow streets in cobblestones. Slow but happy I was 63 of 68 overall and 4 of 4 in my a.g.

Running update: Now that the weather cooled down my pace is faster and I can increase my mileage.

This week I have run 3 times:

Tuesday: 9,7 km (ondulate);

Thursday: 13,8 km (8,6 m) (hilly). At last a longer run taking advantage of the cooled weather, the sea breeze and the early time. I could see the sunrise (the real and in metaphorical sense)!

Saturday: 9,7 km (ondulate) with my son Paolo who is improving fast. I covered, without pushing, the distance in 59:36. On the same route, 4 days ago, my finishing time was 1:04:17!

Tomorrow: rest!!!!

My good friends: I am pleased to introduce you my 3 lovely cats: Vito, Felice and Piccolo:

Do you have pets at home?

  4. Good to keep fit if you can. Not everyone can do what you do.
    Like your cat.
Used to have pets but they got old and passed on. Too sad when they go..

    1. I agree, it's very sad when they leave us forever. They become part of the family.

    1. Yes it is, the pace becomes faster and the distance is not a problem anymore.
I am sure that you will get back to running very soon: you are already working hard.

  6. We don't have any pets as we aren't often at home.
Your August stats are great, Stefano, considering the heat! I'm sure you will get even more running done in September.

    1. Getting older running in summer is always harder for me. However I am happy because I can run again, no matter distance and pace.
Now the things go better and speed and mileage are improving.

  7. That’s decent mileage for August! I’m glad you’re enjoying the cooler weather. I’m one of few who loves the heat (or, at least I can tolerate it pretty well). The cooler temps are bearable, but a painful reminder of even colder weather to come...

    1. Indeed I don't complain for my mileage for August but I cannot forget what I did when I was younger however .... I cannot live in the past, time flies.....
Here cooler temps are not a problem, because I live in a temperate zone.

  8. Love your cats! I've had cats all my life until now. We hope to move in a few years, and I've moved with cats -- it's not a lot of fun! Now we are down to just Bandit.

I'm glad you're beginning to get some cooler weather that is making running easier for you!

  9. That's great about the cooler weather and I hope that sticks around for a while. That's one of the best things I enjoy about Fall running.

    1. Here Fall is the best season for running. However we are lucky because winter is not brutal here: we seldom see ice and/or snow.

  10. I love your cats! I have two cats- trying to get a third but my husband says no (so far.)
Like you, I didn't race last month and probably won't do any races until October at the earliest. We'll have the heat here in Florida for a couple more months!

    1. Two months again! It's a long summer in Florida. Here it's cooler (less hot) but I prefer to wait again for racing.
I hope that your husband changes his mind about the 3rd cat.

  12. Your cats are a pleasure to see. We used to have four cats years ago with a couple of dogs. They were happy together. I miss having pets but I always love photographing them these days. Have a great week and glad you're taking it easier in the hot and humid weather.
