Bolsena Lake: My usual training paths are in the city where I live and here I can choose every kind of routes: easy, hilly, ondulate, flat, trail ecc.
But sometimes, when I want to relax my mind and my body, I go to the Bolsena Lake, 1 hour driving far from here, where I run by the lake in a quiet atmosphere in the middle of the green country of the Viterbo province. The route is flat and scenic and there I find every kind of plants and animals including colonies of birds: it’s wonderful to meet and feed the canadians ducks during their migrations.
That is the right place to spend some days (or hours) of total relax:
Lost and Found: I see that many blogger friends have a collection of hardwares earned in many competitions. Unfortunately I have lost most of them when I changed house . These are the only “memories” left after one life of sport:
Below are the 2 pics found:
Schedule change: I planned to run, on june 9th, the “Trail of the cherries” in Celleno but yesterday I have noticed that the race is an “urban trail”, 9 km. long, with many stairs to climb and descend. Immediately I changed my mind and I deleted that trail from my upcoming races list: I cannot risk an injury!
But, never mind, on the same day I will enter a flat 12.3 km race in Ladispoli, a city on the sea, 45 minutes driving far from here.
Have you ever run an urban trail? If not, would you like to try such kind of event one day?
Bolsena Lake is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI too have had to say goodbye to most of my running medals when we immigrated to New Zealand - they were just too heavy to pack...! I've only kept the very special ones - mostly the ones from international races that I've done.
You sure are blessed with such a big variety of races to choose from on most weekends! The races in my area are few and far between, with only a handful of bigger ones scattered throughout the year. Enjoy your race in Ladispoli!
Sorry for your running medals. I see you have raced in 4 continents and 7 countries: an impressive running career!
DeleteThe Canepina's 8 km trail seems also interesting. It will be held on July 20 through a forest with pine trees ... Maybe we should wear particular running shoes.
ReplyDeleteBetter to check before the route. Celleno was a good lesson learned. I think I will also enter the Sunset Liberty Race on saturday.
DeleteWhat a beautiful lake and race course.
ReplyDeleteI am very clumsy so I will never run a trail race. And stairs...no thank you.
So nice to have many choices. Good luck in your "flat" race.
We think alike: stairs.... no thank you and no trail race unless they are not dangerous for my old and injured body!
DeleteWhat a beautiful place for a relaxing run! That's too bad you lost so many of your race medals when you moved but how nice to find some old pics on the internet. I don't think we have any urban trail races around here.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately not only medals but also cups and plates.
DeleteMoreover I have lost all the rugby memories.
An urban trail sounds intense! I’ve never tried a race like that.
ReplyDeleteI love running by water & Your lake looks very peaceful.
And I'll never try an urban trail.
DeleteYes that part of lake is very very peaceful.
That sounds like such a peaceful place to run. So nice that you have the option to run there!
ReplyDeleteI go there with my wife 3/4 times every month to relax ourselves.
