Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

May 2019

May 2019Stats: 121 km (10 workouts + 3 races) and 8 long walks.
In May I have mainly worked on more challenging paths and to recover a bit of speed.
I can say that this was a positive month because the last time that I entered 3 races in a single month was in october 2005.
Unfortunately I had to pay the price of the efforts and now I am off for a boring pharyngitis + tracheitis. For this reason tomorrow I will skip a race organized “last minute” in my city and maybe the next one on june 9th too.
However I don’t complain because I had the possibility to race in these 3 beautiful places:

Moreover, during my workouts, I met some “old good friends”:

I saw beautiful ships berthed in the port:

And some beautiful landscapes:

Old Memories – May 1988
On may 8, 1988 (31 years ago!!!!) I ran in Grosseto (Tuscany) my first half marathon with the finishing time of 1:33:51 and I was 98 of 148 overall (yes, only 148 runners). I am the first on the left.

Do you meet "old good friends" during your workouts? When did you run your first race?

  1. My first race was a four man relay, three miles on the road followed by a 2½ mile fell section. I was anchor man on the fells. We finished 1st pub team and came away with 24 cans of beer.
Co-incidentally, in my first ½ marathon two weeks later my finishing time was very similar to your - 1.35.21. One week later I reduced it to 1.32.56 and eventually PB'd at 1.21.23 when I was 57 years old.
Keep on running, consistency is the key. Cheers!

    1. On foot during and also after the race. And exploring local nice restaurants after the event too.

  3. Corchiano looks really wonderful! I think Corchiano is as nice as Orte, where we will run on 6th July and 1st September. I look forward to visit those beautiful medieval villages.

    1. Corchiano has to be a fixed point in our schedule. Everything is perfect there.

  5. Well done on the racing and hope you are feeling better soon. I have many friends from running, a few from the '80s and who still run. My first race was in 1979.
