Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

September - Ronciglione

September 2023 – In September I started a more appropriate training to return to racing after the summer break. Nothing special: I just increased a bit the mileage and the speed in every single workout but I didn’t follow a specific program.

Here the summer months are too hot to stress my body with races.  In such period I also avoid the night races because the days are too intense and in the evening I no longer have anymore the strength  to compete.

These are the numbers:

Total monthly mileage: km. 154.9 (96,3 m);

Workouts: 13;

Races: 1.

September 1985 (memories): 38 years ago I entered my first race. They were “heroic times”, in my city we could consider ourselves the pioneers; at that time running was not as popular as it is now. It was September 5th and I covered the distance of 7.8 km. (4,85 m) in 39:00. At the start we were only 29 runners. As you can see in the photo I was a bit overweight.

Ronciglione – On Saturday my wife and I spent one day in Ronciglione, considered one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy. We had lunch in a restaurant where we ate local food. Later we went to relax ourselves on the shore of Lake Vico.

  1. What a gorgeous little town. And the gnocchi looks fantastic too. Thanks for the retrospective on your running career, but I’m not sure that I recognized you in the first race of your career.

  5. Those winding narrow cobble stone streets are so pretty! You are fortunate to have these places to share special time with your wife. Oh and how fun looking back on days gone by, such a small group of runners compared to how many are at starting lines these days.

    1. In most of the cities in my region you can find cobble stone streets but the most beautiful are in the Viterbo province.
      Yes, for running the 80's was another era.

  12. You are not even slightly overweight in that photo! I love it! Hasn't running come a long way since then?
    Just yesterday a German runner was telling me how she had to run in men's shoes in the 80s because there were none for women!

    1. Many things are changed. I remember, after a race, we had to wait many days to buy in the news stand the newspaper with the total results of the race.
      Difficult to find pictures. We got them by our parents or friends who kindly came to follow the race.
      All the material was in cotton and the Garmin (or similar) didn't exist.
      And yes, it was a difficult world for women. As you can see in my photo there were no women at the start.
