Running update - This week I started to increase my speed to prepare the upcoming races.
Monday 10.7 km slow;
Wednesday 10.6 km slow;
Friday 10 km tempo run;
Sunday 9,7 km tempo run.
At the moment I don't have any race on my calendar because I'm waiting for cooler temperatures. I will start on sept. 24 with a 10 km in Tarquinia and then other 6/7 races between October and November.
Festivals - My wife and I spent a few days at the lake house and went to the Gnocchi Festival in San Lorenzo Nuovo and the Lentil Festival in Onano.
S. Lorenzo Nuovo - Gnocchi Festival
Potato gnocchi is a very good typical dish.
The town is very beautiful with a famous octagonal square and a belvedere on the lake called "terrace on the lake".

Onano Lentil Festival - Onano lentils are legumes smaller than normal but famous for their taste.
The town, built on a tufa cliff, is very old and characteristic.

Have you ever eaten lentils and gnocchi?
Looks like a nice weekend away for you all. Yum on the gnocchi. I also do not do any races until it is way cooler. Hope your heatwave is better now!
ReplyDeleteI remember again how good my grandma's gnocchi were.
DeleteI agree it's better waiting for cooler days. Here it's hot again.
I think before I do a trip to Italy I will contact you for all the info on the local festivals. I mean, who knew that there is such a thing as a gnocchi and lentil festival?? Amazing. Thanks for the photos!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Summer and fall are seasons full of events in Tuscia (Viterbo province - Lazio region). Yes, contact me when you want, it's a pleasure to give you info.
DeleteLooks like you’ve had some fun outings!! I love all the pics!
ReplyDeleteHere it's full of interesting events and festival. There is not time to be bored.
DeleteWhat a lovely trip and photographs! It's still cold and rainy here and I'm not up to any races yet, but I can hope to bit fit enough soon.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for reading a race recap of yours. Don't give up and run strong!
DeleteMi piacciono entrambi: gnocchi al sugo e lenticchie con verdurine. Buon appetito!
ReplyDeleteA me piacciono molto gli gnocchi. Ricordo ancora quanto erano buoni quelli che cucinavano mia nonna e mia madre.
DeleteI'm a big fan of gnocchi. I've never had it with lentils, but I've prepared all kinds of ways. I love frying it in the pan--sounds weird but the crispy gnocchi is so fun to eat.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are a fan of gnocchi. Me too!!!
DeleteGnocchi looks so good there. Sure it would be so creamy. The streetscape is surreal. What a classic view.
ReplyDeleteYes they definitely are.
DeleteThat octagonal square with the street in the middle is famous around here.
No from me for lentils and gnocchi. I like both individually though.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right lentils and gnocchi are 2 different dishes.
DeleteHowever I prefer gnocchi.
Me alegro que te estés preparando para tus nuevas carreras. Me da ganas de esos ñoquis. Los paisajes me gustaron mucho. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteLooks an amazing place, must be steep if built on side of a hill but would have wonderful views.
ReplyDeleteNever had lentils, many people do though.
Yes, there are many great views. If you click on "the town" link you can see how beautiful the town is.
DeleteGnocchi is one of life’s wonderful little delights. It reminds me that I haven’t had it for a few months so I’ll pick some up today. Great plan to wait for the cool weather before starting to race again. Running should be fun, not deadly!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I learned the lesson too late: running should be fun. In the past I felt bad if I skipped one workout.
DeleteI love gnocchi, we have it about once a month. Wonderful shots of the streets and the beautiful views. Cool weather will be coming back to you so you can once again enjoy your running in better temps. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteIn my city there are 2 shops where they sell fresh gnocchi everyday: this dish is part of my weekly diet.
DeleteIt's nice that you're getting some miles in in preparation for fall races - you'll be ready. Yes, I love gnocchi and would love to attend the Gnocchi Festival!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm increasing the speed, when the weather will be cooler I can also start the long distance runs.
DeleteI've had lentils and gnocchi, but not together. A gnocchi festival sounds fun! What are Canadian geese doing in Italy??
ReplyDeleteWe don't eat lentils and gnocchi together too.
DeleteCanadian geese "conquered" the Bolsena Lake some years ago and now they share with us the shoreline.
These are beautiful photographs of this wonderful italian town, with his joyfull and explendide architecture.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeletePlease read my post
ReplyDeleteYes, of course.
DeleteFabulous photos and I think I must experiment and make Potato Gnocchi, we have a big crop this year. I so admire the effort you are putting into your running. Take care, Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you.

Boa tarde meu querido amigo. Gostaria de participar deste festival. Sou apaixonado por massas. Obrigado pela excelente matéria.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI suggest to try gnocchi, they are delicious.
That sounds like a great time - and a yummy one! I have never had that dish, but saw Gennaro Contaldo making some.
ReplyDeleteGnocchi are a delicious dish easy to cook.
DeleteThis is a reason more to visit Italy!
I like both gnocchi and lentils! I am sure the gnocchi you got at that festival tastes much better than the gnocchi I buy here. The towns where the festivals were look so pretty and fun places to escape to.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful towns, good food and perfect organizations. The right places to spend a relaxing and nice evening.
DeleteHello,
