Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

Antonello - Meteo Alert

Antonello - Last week a young blackbird, that we named Antonello, fell near my house from the tree where his nest was. We took him home and my wife fed him at regular intervals: they became like mother and son; every time she passed by him he called her. Once perfectly restored we called the manager of the local Bird Protection League (LIPU) who told us that we absolutely had to put him back near the tree because his parents would have come to get him and so it was. The mother came from the sky, fed him and then they walked together slowly towards a garden.

I would have liked to keep him but the LIPU manager advised against it for the sake of the blackbird itself.

Meteo alert - A meteo alert has been issued in this corner of Italy due to the heat wave that is affecting the whole Country. Humidity and very high temperatures are affecting the normal daily activities. Running, even in the early hours of the morning, is really difficult.

This week I ran on Monday for 10.7 km then I had to take 4 days off due to the heat and I tried again on Saturday but after 2.5 km I had to stop myself. Finally yesterday, Sunday, I went out at 08:00 p.m.: I ran 10 km but after 7km I took a break at a fountain to freshen up and drink. I arrived home soaked wet with sweat dripping from every part of my body.

Until this weather alert ends, I'll live in the moment without doing any training/racing programs.

How is weather in your part of world?

  1. How sweet! I am surprised the mother bird accepted him after he had interaction with humans. Glad it worked out!

  2. Wonderful about the baby blackbird! I didn't know either that the parents take the young birds back.
I read about the heat wave in southern Europe. It's terrible - I wonder how we will deal with this climate change in future.

    1. I also didn't believe but his parents were always outside my window so I trusted the LIPU boss words.
For today and tomorrow another meteo alert: hotter than the past days.

  3. How kind of you to care for the bird! Last weekend at our lake house, we saw a mama deer stealthly walking through our backyard. She hopped the fence into the yard next door and her little fawn excitedly ran out to greet her! She nursed him and then she left again. So interesting.

We are having very comfortable temperatures but the rest of the country is roasting! It's pretty scary, isn't it?

Yes, it is. Here the heat is terrible! However I go to the beach every morning to enjoy the fresh sea water.

  4. Qui si sta benissimo. 25 gradi al pomeriggio e 15 la notte. Proprio temperature umane...
Bello Antonello.

  6. I loved that you named your rescue bird Antonello... what a cutie. I am so glad that he was able to recover. Also, the heat seems to be everywhere right now. It's even hard to walk in the very early morning hours here in Phoenix.

Tomorrow I will try to run at 06:00 a.m. but taking it easy, very easy!

Heard about the heat all over Europe, and my goodness it much be hot. You all stay cool and don't over do it in the heat.

  10. Warm congratulations on doing the right thing for the blackbird, having cared for it so well. Both you and your wife deserve our appreciation. These terrible weather events are worldwide in one form or another. Here in Canada out-of-control forest fires have become a permanent part of the landscape. Yet still people deny climate change!

I have read about the fires in Canada. I'm very sorry.

Gosh, I saw on the news about the heat in your part of the world! It seems to be an annual thing the past few years but this year seems worse.

Today is going to be a good day weather-wise so I will get out and enjoy it because from the sounds of it, it is only going to get hotter as each day passes.

  16. Ohhh, such a cute bird. It must´ve been hard to do the best!
My FIL once had to keep such a wee one as the mother was dead.
He could say his name, copy the clock and say when he wanted some snacks - he said it in FILs voice, too (the wee one died before I came into the family, so I never got to hear it)
Weee. 16C here only... You would love it.
