Running - I would like to make plans but it is impossible because, due to the covid, day after day the most interesting races are canceled or postponed.
At this point the only goal for 2022 is to keep on running every other day trying to increase the monthly mileage without going below 160 km (100 m).
In the meantime, winter has come bringing cold and winds from north that make the workouts more difficult:
Lately I have also been running less alone and more in group.
This week I have run 3 times:
Tuesday: 10,8 km;
Thursday: 10 km (between a rainstorm and another);
Saturday: 11,5 km.
Here is a memory from a January of many years ago (1997):
from a local newspaper |
Rome – On Wednesday I went with my wife to Rome to take the cat to the veterinary hospital because he is very sick. As the clinical examinations took a long time, we went for a walk in the central shopping streets. Unfortunately the cat will not recover, however we have brought him home again.

Have a good week ahead
You know, in general I am not fond of cities and generally try to avoid them. Rome is one city, however, that I am quite sure I would enjoy, with history on every corner, and fine food too. I am sure I could find a quiet park with trees and birds as a respite from the crowds. I hope that both the weather and COVID permit you to continue running, even if the formal competitions have been closed. All the best from Canada. David
ReplyDeleteRome is a very beautiful city. There are many parks where you can find a lot of birds and other places no crowded where you can enjoy the landscape of Rome from above. But I'm sure you'd like more to visit the green (so called) Tuscia Region near the Capital.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about your cat.
ReplyDeleteIt's very sad to see him in such situation. We try to give him all the love he deserves.
DeleteSperiamo che sto virus molli la presa! Buona settimana!
ReplyDeleteA me sembra che non abbia alcuna voglia di mollarla!!!
DeleteBuona settimana anche a te.

ReplyDeleteCheers
It's very sad to see our old friend to go away slowly day after day.
DeleteSorry to hear about your cat. And races being cancelled. In the US, most have been happening just with restrictions. People seem to need to get out and race!! I think it's healthy mentally and physically to be with people. It seems you agree as you are running with others too. It sure helps make the run go by faster.
ReplyDeleteWe are very sad for the irreversible situation of our cat.
DeleteHere the runners want to race but at the moment it's impossible because of the restrictions for covid. I think we will come back to the virtual races for long time again.
Now I run more often with other friends, it helps to go faster and to improve the mileage.
I'm so sorry that your cat is sick. Enjoy your snuggles with him while you can.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Covid numbers will start going down as this current surge passes and races will start up again for you. At least you are able to run with your friends at the moment.
He spends all the day on our bed. We want to give him all our love.
DeleteUnfortunately here the covid numbers are not going down and the situation is difficult.
I agree, I am lucky because at the moment I can run solo or with my friends without any restriction.
I'm so sorry about your cat, such a sad time. I hope you can have some precious days or weeks with him. I'm also sorry about the races, I'm glad I haven't signed up for anything and can just continue running in small groups at running club or on my own. Covid is circling here, so many people have it, and tests are so hard to get, it's a scary situation and I fear for my vulnerable friends.
ReplyDeleteWe take care of him and he spends all the day on our bed.
DeleteI have learned the lesson and I don't sign up anymore for the races because I risk to see them cancelled.
Here the situation is scary too and many people have covid. I am afraid for my wife (elementary school teacher) and my grandsons who start the lessons tomorrow after the long Christmas break.
Nice to read you have a group to run with too. Yes, all we can do is keep on running and keep our mileage up for when things normalize with races. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteNow I make the workouts with a group of retired man (like me) so we have plenty of time to decide at what time to run. However I am the only one who is member of a running team and participates in races.
DeleteYes, I stay warm, in fact I run in the morning and not before than 09:30 a.m.
I am so sorry about your cat. It’s never easy. I hope he/she doesn’t suffer.
ReplyDeleteWinter has definitely arrived here, too.
At the moment he doesn't suffer but we don't have any hope. We are very sad.
DeleteHere cold and wind again.
Oh Stefano, I am so sorry about your cat. It is never easy to see a furry family member suffer.
ReplyDeleteYour goal of 100m per month sounds very reasonable. That is always a goal of mine, whether I share it or not. It's a lot easier to achieve if you have something to train for, tho!
We are very sad for his situation, poor furry friend.
DeleteYou are right, it's easier to achieve more ambitious goals if we have something to train for. However I don't complain much because I am able to .... run.
On no! I'm sorry about your cat- that makes me sad. Cats are such a beloved part of the family. i hope you have some nice moments with yours still- glad he (she?) is home with you.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a tough time overall- cold, dark, races canceled- glad you're able to run! What would we do without running?
Unfortunately he is old and ill so we are spending more time with him than before.
DeleteHere cold and windy again and other races are cancelled. Glad that we can run!
Gosh, I sure hope the firing squad didn't hit you! SO sorry to hear about your cat. Always tough getting bad news of that sort. Great job on keeping your runs consistent.
ReplyDeleteI walked far from that scary firing squad!!!
DeletePoor old cat, we try to make this bad period more enjoyable for him.
Uy me da pena lo de tu gato. Ojalá no sufra mucho. Sigue corriendo te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteAt the moment he doesn't suffer but he is terribly weak. Sadly we don't have any hope.
DeleteHave a good week.
Such a bummer that races are being postponed/cancelled again! It's hard, especially when you're coming back from an injury and feel like racing again.
ReplyDeleteSo nice that you're running with a group! Do you socialise a bit after the run with a coffee?
After the workouts we go home for a hot shower, too cold in this period!
DeleteHowever now I cannot anymore go to restaurants, bar ecc because I didn't get the booster. The doctor said that I have to get it in hospital because 30 years ago (yes 30!!!!!) I had an anaphylactic shock due to an antibiotic and they don't want to risk. Now I have to wait for not less than 3 weeks!!!!
Is that a cruise ship I see in the port? I'm so sorry about your cat. It's always so sad when they have to leave us. I'm sure you'll make him as comfortable as possible. Your pictures of Rome bring back wonderful memories!
ReplyDeleteYes it is. Here many cruise ships arrive all year long.
DeleteWe are very sad because we think he will leave soon; now we stay more time with him and he spends all the day on our bed.
Oh yes, a very beautiful day in Rome!!! I hope you and your family will come back soon.
Sorry about your cat, great photos of Rome, I like it a lot
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. We are giving him all our love before he leaves.
Deletevery cold here as well, and we received snow and ice over the past few days as well.
ReplyDeleteAwwe I'm so sorry that your cat is sick :( Our pets are family so it always hurts when they don't feel well. Enjoy all the time you have left with him.
No ice here but today is the coldest day of the season (until now).
DeleteThis morning I have run at 09:30 but the wind from north was terrible.
The cats are part of my family too and we are very sad for the health conditions of Felice (the ill cat).
I am so sorry to hear about your cat. Enjoy your time with him.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos of Rome.
Thank you. We are spending more possible time with him.
DeleteRome is a beautiful city.
I am so sorry to hear about your cat, that really is too sad. That was a great shot of the Spanish Steps. That is a beautiful and romantic place to visit with your wife! I really can't wait to get back to Rome again with my family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes we are very sad for the current irreversible situation of our cat.
DeleteI am glad you liked Rome, when did you visit the Capital? Did you come only to Rome?
i would think running in a group would be more fun, unless everyone wants to talk!! it's been really cold here too...rome is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteso sorry about your cat...it is nice you will have a little time to say good-bye!!
Indeed I don't talk very much, I prefer to enjoy the route.
DeleteThank you, I hope that the time is not very short.
Sad about the events being cancelled and such! How long will this go on...
ReplyDeleteSo sad about your cat. Sorry, it must be hard.
“firing squad” - oh, be careful ;-)
Poor kitten, 14 years with us .....
DeleteI always try to stay away from those fearsome firing squads!
sorry to hear about your cat.... hope, the cat will be better ...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos... love it.
Thank you.
DeleteUnfortunately the situation of the kitten is irreversible, we try to give him all the possible love.
I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty; I'm glad you were able to bring him home to spend his last moments with those that love him. ::hugs::
ReplyDeleteWe are very sad, unfortunately he suffers for a cancer in part of his head.
DeleteSo sorry to hear the sad news about your cat. It's always very hard t see someone that has been in our lives for a long time get sick and pass on. Glad you can still offer him comfort in his last days. Best of luck with your running. Stay safe, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWe cuddle him and let him sleep on our bed to make him feel all our love.
We are very sad, it's hard to see him in this situation.
Hola, a ver si en este año, se acaba este maldito virus, y nos deja volver a la normalidad.
ReplyDeleteSiento mucho lo del gato, es una pena, ánimos.
Que tengas una buena semana.
Saludos.
You are right, we are tired of this virus, we hope it ends soon!
DeletePoor kitten, we are very sad.
Saluti dall'Italia!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry your kitty is so sick! It is nice he can spend his last days at home. Your photos of Rome are beautiful. Good luck with your running. Take care and stay safe. Have a happy weekend.
Thank you. Our kitty now is at home, warm and cuddled.
DeleteHave a great week end.
We had a short visit to Rome and enjoyed the city very much. It is good to see some of the familiar places!
ReplyDeleteI hope Covid doesn’t curtail your running.
Rome is a very beautiful city with many places to visit. Glad you liked it.
DeleteWill you come to Italy?
Covid is a problem. Let's think positive even if it's not easy.
