Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

2021 and 2022

2021 Running Stats: 1468 km (912 m) – 149 workouts  - 3 races (2 virtual):

I made the decision to run the 2 virtual races “abroad”: the Colorado Peaks Challenge to participate in team with other 3 friends from USA (team leader Jill) and the Edinburgh Parkrun because I ran this race for the first time in Scotland many years ago.

Days off for illness or injury: 65.

2021 was not a good running year for me. Too many stop due to health problems: the troubles began in March when I was not able to run for 45 days for an inguinal hernia removed by a surgical operation; in september I had problems with the piriformis; in october I felt during a workout and in november/december I was off 13 days for a bad catharral otitis and a severe sinusitis.

Running update.

This week I have run 4 times through challenging routes:

Monday: 10,5 km;

Wednesday: 13,4 km;

Friday: 10,6 km;

Today: 9,7 km.

Upcoming races:  no races in the near future because most of the events are cancelled or postponed for the Covid pandemic. This is the situation around here:

      And today ... no sunset. The sky is cloudy and it's cold again.

  3. Your grandson is so cute!

    You did great with your mileage this year despite all the time off, so well done.

    I envy you your sun -- we don't get a whole lot of sun in Winter, which is part of why it's a difficult time for me. Someday we hope to move somewhere that gets more sun!

    I am sure that races will come back after the Winter, and you'll be ready!

    1. I hope to improve the mileage. At the moment I don't care of the pace because there are no races in the near future.
      No more sun here, today it's cloudy and cold and tomorrow .... rain!

  4. Nice miles in spite of all the obstacles you had to overcome this year! As I get older (I have a big birthday this year), I am grateful for all that I CAN do. You're an inspiration.

    I love that sun photo--we are currently buried in snow! Happy New Year!

    1. A big birthday but you are and you look young; it's normal because you are a runner!
      I am also grateful for all that I can do. More than one doctor said: "After this injury you must stop yourself now" but I am always here even if a lot slower and with a low mileage.

  5. Wishing you a fantastic and healthy running year. Injuries and covid took their toll on you last year but you ran when you could. Stay positive and eventually the events will be rescheduled. It is cloudy and raining here today but we did have a break for about an hour and a rainbow appeared. :)

    1. Thank you. I don't mind if the event will not be rescheduled, I am afraid that we could come back to a total lockdown.
      I hope you had the time to take a picture of the rainbow.
      Happy New Year and please keep on sharing the photos of your beautiful Country.

    Nice that things are now going better - you had a good running week! A happy new year indeed!

    South Africa seemed to have emerged from the 4th wave without too much harm... I hope the same will be true for Italy.

  18. The 14ers Peak race with the girls was fun (3 chick and a black knight- love it). We should try to find another to do. I just don't see a lot of those virtual races anymore.

    Covid is so so sooo bad again here in the U.S. I don't foresee many races cancelled or postponed like they were in 2021, but I also don't see a lot of the older, smaller races coming back. Sad!

    I love you photos, as always. The ocean is always a treasure to (land-locked) me; that mural is fabulous; kitty and the nativity scene always cracks me up; and nothing more precious than time with your grandson!

    Happy New Year, BK!! Glad to be your good friend!
