Running update. I'm finally returning to normality, recovering speed and increasing slowly the mileage. The routine is always the same: a workout every other day and 45 minutes of stretching on the rest day.
This week I have ran 4 times:
Monday : 10 km (flat);
Wednesday: 10.6 km (ondulate – very tough);
Friday: 10 km (ondulate);
Today: 11.2 km totally flat with 2 friends on a sunny day. It was an opportunity for a relaxing slow run (pace 6:30/km - 10:28/m) on the promenade and for a chat among old runners (they are 69 and 66 y.o., I am 65 y.o.) remembering our racing adventures in the past.
Christmas time. A few days before Christmas, even the farthest streets from the center are filling up with lights. Here are the photos of 2 alleys in the most ancient district of my city.
Many events have also been organized in neighboring towns. This is Tolfa:
S.Urbano Apiro. Here are some photos of the ancient Benedictine abbey of S.Urbano Apiro which is located in the center of a valley in the Marche region and that I visited with my son before the pandemic. The plays of light at dawn, inside the building, are incredibly beautiful.
Stunning Photos - Congrats On The Adventures - Stay Strong Brother Knight
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you. I hope to stay strong but ... I'm really getting older!
DeleteOh yes - look at the light effects in that abbey! Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back into your routine. Your run at the promenade with your old running friends sounds delightful. I bet you have a lot to reminisce about!
The last time, I went to the Abbey with some Scottish friends and they put on some Scottish music played on bagpipes. An unbelievable, beautiful and unique atmosphere!
DeleteRunning on the promenade is relaxing moreover we can breathe healthy sea breeze.
you are doing well with running, it's great to have some semblance of normalcy!! the lights are so pretty!! merry christmas, i hope you have a wonderful holiday!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And this good weather helps a lot.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you an family.
Wonderful photos! And glad you're back to it properly. I'm gradually increasing my weekly mileage and ran a mile at my "old" pace today so was pleased with that.
ReplyDeleteI am very glad you are coming back to your standards. Keep on running!
DeleteI'm so glad you are feeling better! Your town looks so beautiful with all the Christmas lights. I've been to Scandinavia for Christmas but never Italy. Merry Christmas Stefano!
ReplyDeleteI think that in Scandinavia the lights are more beautiful than here. I went to Sweden few years ago and I couldn't believe how beautiful were the lights in the dark. For the first time in my life I made a slow workout on the snow: an unforgettable experience.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and family.
Keep up the good running. Love seeing the photos of the alleys of your town, they look festive now with the lights.
ReplyDeleteAnd in those alleys groups of people will cheer up Christmas Eve, until midnight, with songs and sounds. This is an ancient local tradition called "Pastorella" (pastore = shepherd).
DeleteI am so happy to read you are feeling so much better on your runs. Love all the Christmas photo. Have a merry christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I am improving day by day. Enjoy your time in Aruba.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and family.
It's great to hear that you back to getting your runs in and with friends at that! Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos from around your town! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWe made the decision to run on Saturday or Sunday all together in group.
DeleteHowever I am the only one who has the Running Card for the competitions (it means to get a medical certificate after many checks and being part of a running team), the other friends prefer not to race.
Merry Christmas to you and family.
It does feel good to return to normal, doesn't it? Glad to see you getting your runs in. Your city is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYes, it is a "return to life". Running gives me a sense of freedom!
Me alegro que todo vuelva la normalidad. Te mando un abrazo y te deseo una feliz navidad y prospero año nuevo para ti y tu familia.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and family.
Oh, that abbey! The sunlight looks so dramatic coming through those windows ;-) Glad to hear you're feeling good...looks like the mileage is doing well also. Such good news!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteAnd you cannot imagine when they put on medieval music. One time I went there with Scottish friends and I had the chance to listen their songs played with bagpipes: unforgettable moments!
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and family.
I am glad to hear that you are back to running, the thing that gives you most pleasure in life. All the very best for the holidays to you and your family and a wonderful 2022 - free of COVID I hope!
ReplyDeleteAfter the family there is running for me. As I told it is a cure for mind, spirit and body.
DeleteAll the best to you too. Happy holidays!!!!
I always appreciate you sharing the beautiful area you live in! The holiday lights make the darkness of this time of year easier to bear.
ReplyDeleteHooray for a return to normal running! Here's hoping you'll be running into the new year with no problems.
It's true, the lights make the city more beautiful.
DeleteI also hope to be able to run without problems, the first race will be in February, so I have plenty of time to prepare it.
Those are some amazing photos you were able to capture of the light coming through the windows. It looks totally surreal. I hope you and your family have a Very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSome people go there to receive the rays of the sun on their body. They say that it is a way to achieve inner peace.
Merry Christmas to you and family.
Fabulous photos as always, Black Knight.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better.
Have a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place, the field of sunflowers is gorgeous. I love the Christmas lights at night, they do look pretty. It is awesome, you are feeling good and back running again. Merry Christmas to you and your family! I wish you all the best in 2022, a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Sunflowers are my favorite flowers, every spring I plant the seeds in the garden.
