Running update – This week I have run 4 times:
Monday: 6,5 km. A short workout because, I don’t know the reason, I felt tired;
Wednesday: 11 km with the first half under a heavy rain. I cannot skip anymore any workout because the racing season is starting and … better the rain than the treadmill;
Friday: 12,8 km;
Sunday: 10,2 km with other 2 friends.
Upcoming races:
Nov. 7th Orbetello: Finally, after many doubts, I decided not to participate. I'm sorry because the place (46m far from here), with its lagoon and the natural reserve is very beautiful, but the race was just an opportunity to gather many runners without swag and with 3 prizes for 2 age groups only (up to 49 - over 50) . At this point, with other 2 running friends, we planned of spending a morning together but without going to another city and therefore we did a 10,2 km workout by the sea.
All this also considering that on Dec. 8th there will be another race in Orbetello in which I will certainly participate.
Nov. 14th: Montalto di Castro – 11 km – Signed up;
Dec. 5th: Canino – Olive Oil Run – 10 km – Signed up;
Dec, 8th Orbetello – Christmas Run – 10 km – Registrations are still closed.
Pitigliano - Pitigliano is another ancient town, not far from here, in the historical region of Italy called Tuscia:
There is a local race, a half marathon in the spring, and it's near my house. I've registered for it 2 or 3 times but for various reasons, have always DNS'd. I guess it's just not meant to be for me, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe same happened to me with a local race in April. For a reason or another I never succeed in participating in it.
DeleteWow- Pitigliano is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good week of running. I've definitely skipped races for various reasons- doing a run closer to home and with friends, is a great alternative. Hope you enjoyed it!
We enjoyed our workout: we ran on the seafront, on the breakwater and through the port with a perfect weather.
DeleteLovely photos! I skipped the Manchester Marathon because I had a cold, which was the right decision - I did run 26.2 miles around the local area a couple of weeks later to use the training, however!
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration! Despite the cold you did it later and alone: nothing can stop you!
DeleteIt's hard to run 26.2 miles without the spirit of the competition.
I couldn't have done it without another woman who had also missed it, and then a whole load of other friends who joined us for sections. It was hard, though, and I had to dash into a shop and ask to use their toilet at one stage!
DeleteEven if you weren't alone, running for 26,2 miles without being in a race was a great achievement.
DeleteSuch amazing pics, Stefan (I know, I say that every week...but I love seeing all the sights in your area). Even with today’s race not happening, you still had what sounds like a great get together anyways. And, there’s a lot of other races coming up!
ReplyDeleteBut I write about the same topics every week too.....
DeleteI made the right decision not to race today.
I know that more interesting races are on the way around here. I have the goal to enter 2/3 races every month.
Nice photos with great views. Good luck with the running, at least you had a wonderful workout close by with your friends.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA workout with chats and many laughs!
Better rain than the treadmill! Yes, absolutely agree!
ReplyDeleteWell, running a 10.2k with two friends by the sea sounds much better than running a race that is badly organized. I'm sure you made the right choice.
Are you looking forward to your race next Sunday?
I am glad we think alike about the treadmill.
DeleteYes I cannot wait for 3 reasons: coming back to race in person, running with my son and a post-race lunch somewhere in Maremma (Tuscany).
Three great reasons! Be sure to post a photo of the lunch. ;-)
DeleteI agree it is better to run in the rain than on a treadmill. Thanks for sharing the great photos today. I miss traveling! Good luck on your race next weekend
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope to have fun on Sunday.
DeleteI agree, the treadmill is the last option.
Have you ever visited Italy?
Incredible Castle Action And Hope The Race Went Well For Ya - Stay Strong Brother Knight
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you.
DeleteCannot wait to come back to the in person races!
Beautiful older place there with beautiful view.
ReplyDeleteHope your knee is alright and good to have a run with a friend or two.
Thank you, I don't have pain anymore and at last my workouts are regular.
DeleteIn Tuscia Region there are many similar old beautiful towns.
Those ancient homes are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes they are. In such region many ancient towns are beautiful like Pitigliano.
DeleteSorry you missed your race but it sounds like you had good reasons. I do not like when they group all of the "older" runners into one age group. Not fair at all. Beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am sure I made the right decision.
DeleteI don't understand why they did it: it would have been better to eliminate the categories.
That's a bummer about missing the race but it sounds like you made the right decision for you, and there's always next year!
ReplyDeleteAnd there's always December with many races on the way. On Dec. 31th there is an interesting race in Rome called "We run Rome" with all the route through the touristic part of the city.
DeleteYour photos of Pitigliano are making me want to plan a trip just so I can walk down those streets. Where I live, there is very little older than 50-60 years. Unless I drive 2 hours south to Tucson to visit the San Xavier del Bac Mission.
ReplyDeleteI have just went to read something about San Xavier del Bac Mission: it is a very beautiful building full of history.
DeleteI am sure you would like these ancient towns built on tuff ridges.
Suerte con tu recorrido, me gustan las imagenes. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a good week.
DeleteI agree, better rain than darn, boring treadmill!
ReplyDeleteAlso... doesn´t rain feel so good?
Sad you have to skip that adventure. But yay to December then.
Beautiful views again. Really Italy was one of the best holidays we had. Sweet memories.
I like to run under the rain: it's a special feeling of freedom.
DeleteI hope you will come back to spend a vacation in Italy.
Love the photos of Pitigliano. How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing all the sights in your area.
Thank you. In such ancient Etruscan region, there are many similar towns built on tuff ridges. I love to visit them and having lunch with the local special food.
DeleteSounds like skipping the race was the right decision and you have other races on your schedule. Looking forward to pics from those beautiful courses.
ReplyDeleteI have skipped races because of bad weather.
Yes, other beautiful races through scenic routes and with official photographers (the photos are free).
DeleteIn winter bad weather is always possible, I have run races under the rain but never under the storm.
i have skipped a lot of races...hehehe, i could not resist!! i was never a runner, even when i was younger!!
ReplyDeletethe images of this area are gorgeous, i enjoyed seeing these pictures!!
Thank you.
DeleteEven if you have never been a runner I am sure you were and still are very active.
I've been lucky to not skip any races, but there have been a few close calls over the years. Usually due to my parents, of course.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you still have plenty of races lined up! I hope you get to enjoy them all.
For sure I will enjoy the races because they are also an opportunity to spend a different day in very beautiful places.
DeleteSuch a beautiful place to live!Wonderful photoes
ReplyDeleteIwa a runner before util my job took all my time
But body still remembers and everytime i have walks in nature the running triggers me It is a fine way to feel fresh and mentally well :))
thanx for sharing!
Thank you very much.
DeleteRunning is beautiful and it is a cure for mind and body but walking in nature is priceless too.
Keep on walking!
Your hometown is beautiful! I've only been to Italy once (in 2011) and would love to go back someday soon.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I woke up to snow in April several years ago on the morning of the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler in Washington, DC. We crawled back in bed and skipped the race. Of course we later regretted our decision when our friends told us that there was not snow in DC (just 30 miles east of us).
Please forgive me if I didn't explain better: Pitigliano is not my hometown but a hamlet 53 miles far from here. I like to post the photos of the ancient towns near the city where I live.
DeleteWhat a pity about that Cherry Blossom!!!
Great blog
ReplyDeleteThe countryside there is simply enchanting. I would walk slowly and take it all in!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you would take a lot of pictures.
DeleteIn these kind of towns we find many natural attractions: "little rivers, falls, lakes, building in bricks, streets in cobblestones, woods, animals, local food and many other amazing things.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you had to skip the race, I wish you good luck with the other races you signed up for? The views of the ancient town. Stay strong and healthy. Have a happy weekend.
Thank you very much.
DeleteNo problem for skipping the race, tomorrow I will start my "racing season".
Have a good week end.
Anche le tue foto non sono affatto male! 🙂
ReplyDeleteBuona serata e buone corse!
Grazie.
DeleteIo non sono un esperto di fotografia. Sono immagini prese con un i-phone.
Buon week end.
