October - Stats:
Mileage: 129 km (80,2 m)
Workouts: 13
Races: 0
The mileage was low because, after the fall on oct. 15th, I couldn't run for 6 days.
Now I am coming back to the normality, increasingly slowly the single workouts mileage and the pace.
Even if I have some races planned in the near future I don't want to be in hurry. At my age the injury is always on the corner if I am not prudent.
This week I have run 3 times:
Tuesday: 11,3 km mainly flat;
Thursday: 10,6 km on a though route;
Saturday: 13,4 km with my son.
Upcoming races:
Nov. 7th: Orbetello - Run through the natural reserve - 5km. The organization changed the plans: now the distance is 5 km (no more 10 km) with a cut off of 60:00. It will be a last minute decision, I am not sure to participate;
Nov. 14th: Montalto di Castro - 10 km. Signed up;
Montalto di Castro - 2019 |
Dec. 5th: Canino - Olive Oil Run - 10 km. Signed up;
Canino - 2019 |
Dec. 8th: Orbetello - Christmas Run - 10 km.

Music - I love music and, before the lockdown, I often went to Rome to attend rock music concerts. Here are some memories:
Joe Bonamassa (foto Bonarelli) |
Bob Dylan |
Queen |
Deep Purple |
Chicago |
Elton John |
Bryan Ferry |
Mark Knopfler |
John Illsley (Dire Straits Legend) |
Roger Waters |
Which are your favorite singers/band?
Oh, so many races coming up! How nice!
ReplyDeleteI would sign up for the 5k next Sunday. Running in a natural reserve must be very beautiful and enjoyable.
Do you and your son run at the same pace when you run together? Or does one of you have to slow down for the other?
Right now, I like Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Muse. I would have definitely accompanied you to all your concerts!
If only my son trained regularly he would be faster than me but, at the moment, he is at the beginning of the training. He is too busy with his job, the 2 sons and the dog.
DeleteI know those 3 band but I haven't gone to their concerts yet.
I put only those pics in the post but the list is long. I attended also the concerts of Bruce Springsteen, Within Temptation, Bryan Adams, Leonard Cohen, Depeche Mode, Joe Cocker, The Pretenders and many Italian groups/singers.
I really do hope you can participate!
ReplyDeleteQueen! :-) You mentioned that. Oh, so many cool concerts!
Let´s hope we all can enjoy this, artists, and guests / fans.
Yes, Queen but without Freddie Mercury, the singer was Paul Rodgers.
DeleteI also hope to come back to enjoy live music. Living near Rome I'd have many opportunities.
I love rock concerts! I've actually seen Sir Elton twice, once by himself and the other time was with Billy Joel. I've seen Bon Jovi three times (Jon is such a dream!), but I think Def Leppard is my favorite concert. I've seen them twice, and both times were EXCELLENT! They were a big band during my high school/college years, and they still rock like they haven't aged.
ReplyDeleteGreat! I like Bon Jovi. During my high school time I went to listen the prog music. I remember the Italian band Le Orme, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso.
DeleteHow many memories!
Brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteLots of good music you listed. Good luck with your running.
ReplyDeleteI remember in the early 70s we, the teen agers, came back home 3 times a week at 08:00 p.m. to listen the rock music at a radio station. The program was "Supersonic".
DeleteLooks like you have some fun races next month to choose from. Does your weather get really cold in the holiday season? Looks like most are wearing shorts in those photos
ReplyDeleteHere the weather is mainly good. The real cold comes in January/February.
DeleteIn this period I run wearing shorts and t-shirts.
Wow! You got to see some great concerts! My husband is not big on crowds so we don’t go too often. One of the last big ones we saw was Paul Simon. It was the second time we saw him — the first time was an outdoor concert & it rained!
ReplyDeleteI like the Paul Simon's song. When I was young I went to the outdoor concert but now, getting older, I prefer "to be comfortable".
DeleteI sure hope you are able to run your race!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been to so many concerts over the years. Most recently (2 years ago, lol) I went to Country Thunder with my boys and saw Chris Stapleton. He was amazing. I love rock and I love good country music.
I don't know Chris Stapleton but I like country music. I remember many years ago, in the USA, I attended a Brooks and Dunn exhibition.
DeleteYou had some good runs this week! I hope you can run your race next weekend- it sounds really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm a total nerd and mostly listen to classical music- but I did like some of those bands in my youth! You've seen some great ones!
I made the decision not to race this week end so I can go to watch the first rugby match of my grandson.
DeleteI am lucky because I live near Rome so it's possible to attend a lot of concerts.
Certainly good music there with those concerts you attended.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you all running through the streets.
Hope you knee has improved.
Thank you. Yes the knee doesn't hurt anymore and I can run with less problems.
DeleteI like to race in those towns because the routes, even if difficult (cobblestones and uphill), are amazing.
Looks like you have some fun upcoming races this winter!
ReplyDelete... and in beautiful places!
DeleteI miss going to gigs, though I went to the Moseley Folk and Arts festival and saw a lot of bands, including The Wonderstuff and Gruff Rhys, outside in the open air, safely, back in the summer, which was great. I have seen Aerosmith but I normally like smaller bands in smaller venues. I saw a lot of the Britpop bands back in my student days, I still follow The Men They Couldn't Hang (and various members; I missed their last Midlands gig because of that race I then fell over in!) and ranting poet Attila the Stockbroker, and am going to see an excellent Scottish band called Peat + Diesel in March.
ReplyDeleteI don't know those bands but I'm going to listen them. About the Scottish music I have seen the Clan an Drumma in Edinburgh and I am a Runrig fan.
DeleteI remember all the crowd singing Loch Lomond at the Murrayfield stadium during the half time of the rugby match Scotland - Italy, it was an unforgettable experience.
I do hope you feel well enough to do the Orbetello run. It sounds beautiful. If not, it will certainly be something to look forward to next year!
ReplyDeleteI made the decision not to race in Orbetello next Sunday so I can go to watch the first rugby match of my grandson (5 y.o.).
DeleteFor sure I will participate in the other 3.
So glad to see your blog through Iris Stefano, happy to be here! I miss the days when I was running. My first run was a half marathon, I was so ambitious that time at 250 lbs! But even if I was one of the last ones to finish, I still did. I proved myself that a fit and light body is key to running but also, the drive in your heart if its strong enough, you really will finish. I wish I can run again soon :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment. I hope you will be able to run again soon: no matter pace and mileage, only running!
DeleteI understand how tough finishing that half marathon was, but you did it and I can imagine your happiness at the finishing line.
I'm glad you're up and running again after that fall. SO many fun races coming up! You've seen so many wonderful concerts!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, I like to race in those little and ancient towns.
DeleteAt the moment there are a lot of races in Rome and few around here.
I prefer not to go to Rome: too crowded and difficult to find a parking near the start.
you have a lot of running events coming up!! when you started to talk about music, i didn't think we would have any in common. i'm not sure why BUT i didn't. well, i was wrong!! i LOVE queen, sir elton and chicago...i grew up listening to these. my favorites from that time in my life are bruce springsteen, billy joel, eagles, the beatles, fleetwood mac....the list is endless!! all of those i have seen in concert!!
ReplyDeleteYes we like the same music. Fleetwood Mac and Eagles were part of the soundtrack of my youth. I went to 3 Bruce Springsteen concerts: fabulous, not less than 2 hours each! Both with the E-Street Band and the Seeger Session (We shall overcome).
DeleteNow I like the Nightwish and the Within Temptation too.
i saw springsteen many times performing at small clubs here in new jersey. i saw him at madison square garden too, it was a long one, ending with born to run. and the e-street band, always amazing!!
DeleteGreat music you listed, Black Knight. I love Queen.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your running!
Thank you. Unfortunately I never had the chance to see the Queen with Freddie Mercury but the concert with Paul Rodgers was very beautiful too.
DeleteYou have some exciting races coming up. Can't wait to hear about them.
ReplyDeleteYou have attended some amazing concerts. I love Elton John, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, Queen...
Only those races because I don't like to race in Rome where there are a couple of running events every week end. I prefer little towns with scenic routes.
DeleteI see that we like the same kind of music.
Me alegro que te hallas recuperado, y vuelvas a correr, buena música la que escuchas.
ReplyDeleteSaludos
Thank you very much. Running, for me, is a good cure for health and spirit.
DeleteHave a good week end.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteIt is great you are signed up and ready to run. I am glad you have healed and feel better now. You have been to some great concerts. I would like to see Queen! Good luck with your run events. Take care, have a happy weekend!
Thank you very much.
DeleteUnfortunately the Queen without Freddie Mercury are not anymore the same but their concerts are wonderful again.
