Running again - After the fall on Oct. 15th I took one week off. Now the knee is still slightly swollen and during the effort I feel a little of pain, however I made the decision to come back to run, avoiding at the moment long climbs and putting ice on the knee at the end of the workouts.
This week I have run 2 times:
Friday: 10 km;
Today (Sunday): 11,7 km through the city with a friend.
Upcoming races:
Nov. 7th: Orbetello - Run Through the Natural Reserve - trail km. 10 - I am not in time to fully recover so I won't participate. Moreover I disagree with the cut off time of 60'00": many people like to enjoy the natural reserve route and don't mind about the pace. Why this cut off time?
Nov. 14th: Montalto di Castro - km.11;
Dec. 8th: Orbetello - Christmas Run - km.10

Here you can see the bench in front of the local rugby ground where Nikki, a friend of mine (former rugby player and runner) used to sit down to watch the matches. Sadly 2 years ago he "passed the ball" (rugby saying) and now the bench with his name remembers Nikki forever.

ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you.
DeleteA well deserved tribute for a good person.
We played rugby together and we were in the same running team.
Well done on getting back out there running. Even though I'm less badly injured than you, I just don't want to run, so I haven't run. I've been for a couple of walks, but no running. It feels weird, but I'm following how I feel.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing the right thing.
DeleteIt's better to run when you are in the right feeling.
I tried because I want to race.
Sounds like a smart idea to skip the trail run and do the other 2. 60 min is a strict cut off especially for a trail race. Hope the knee continues to heal up!
ReplyDeleteI hope too. Ice is working well.
DeleteThat cut off is absurd.
Thanks again for more beautiful pics! Nice memorial bench for your friend. Hoping the knee continues to heal and you're feeling well.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
DeleteThe knee feels better day by day, it's important now to avoid uphill and downhill.
I enjoy your pics of your hometown. Glad that you are taking it easy and icing your knee. The bench is a wonderful tribute to your friend. Have a good week, BK.
ReplyDeleteThank you. The tribute was a wonderful idea of the Centumcellae Rugby team.
DeleteI'm so glad you're able to run! Great choice to skip the trail race though- pushing yourself like that could aggravate your knee. Hope everything heals up soon so you can do the other two races.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always!
Thank you.
DeleteThe trail is not a good route for a post-injury race.
Luckily now I can choose among many in person events.
Lovely photos, Stefano! Wow, that car must have been standing around a long time. Won't the police track the owner if it stands around too long?
ReplyDeleteSorry about your friend Nikky. He looks like he was a strong runner.
Enjoy the cooler temperatures!
I think that if the owner pays the car taxes the police cannot do anything.
DeleteNikki was a good runner and a strong rugby player.
Wonderful weather for the runners!
Photos are nice, your home town is looking good and hope that knee is not too much of a problem.
ReplyDeleteThank you, the knee is healing.
DeleteBy night the historic center is amazing.
I am glad you are back to running after the fall but I'm sorry you won't be able to run the race. That's very sad about Nikki. The bench is a nice tribute.
ReplyDeleteI will not miss that race: absurd cut off, no swag, no official photos and only 3 a.g. prizes. Before the pandemic it was a great and well organized event.
DeleteBut I miss the location.
Nikki now runs in heaven.
That is such a great memory of your friend Nikki leading the pack! Hang in there with the rehab!!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIndeed we were in the middle of the whole pack.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThe bench is a wonderful memorial for your friend. I am glad you are feeling better now and can run. we have pine needles all around our driveway. Take care, have a great day and a happy new week!!
Thank you. Here the ground of the city is full of fallen leaves and pine needles. Fall has come!!!
DeleteThe leaves are falling here too. Have a great weekend!
DeleteLove the pics of your hometown.
ReplyDeleteThe bench is a wonderful tribute to your friend, Black Knight.
Thank you. The bench is a tribute to Nikki and the rugby ground has the name of another rugby player who passed away many years ago when he was in his 30s.
Deletethe bench is a wonderful memorial for your friend!! the pictures of your hometown are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Also the name of the ground is a memorial for another former rugby player.
DeleteSad bench. But yay to running again.
ReplyDelete"the last" - so what?
Great place you live there!
Thank you.
DeleteYes and I hope to participate in a race very soon.
The last? What about a car washing? The rain didn't work!
