Montalto di Castro - Here are other photos of last Sunday race in Montalto di Castro kindly offered by the organizers and by fotoforgo.com
I am very happy to be back to compete and that my son Paolo made the decision to participate in the next events as well.

Upcoming race: The next race will be in Canino on Dec. 5th on a route with many uphill in the middle of olive woods: the swag, in fact, will also include a bottle of local extra virgin olive oil.
Unfortunately Paolo will not be able to participate because he was late to register: the Organization, reached the number of 300 runners, closed the registrations.
Running update.
This week I have run 3 times:
Tuesday: 10 km
Thursday: 10,1 km
This morning: 15 km
I took 2 days off (Friday and Saturday) because I felt a bit tired.
A relaxing day on the hills: The day after a full moon night, taking advantage of the nice sunny fall days, I went to have lunch in Tolfa, a beautiful town on the hills, famous for the ancient rock and the narrow streets. I ate local food based on black truffles collected in the surrounding countryside.

Rugby: This morning my grandson Gabriele (5 y.o.) participated in his first rugby tournament. His team has won all 5 games. The other 2 grandsons are soccer players. There is also a 4th grandson 5 months old.
Do you like to have lunch/dinner in rural places with a menu of only local food?
Is that an old castle on the rock? What's its story?
ReplyDeleteThe Castle is a typical medieval fortress dating back to the early 9th century A.D., that was renovated in 1448 when it became the property of the Frangipane family during the conquest of Viterbo.
DeleteIn 1779 the Rocca saved many Tolfetani who refused to surrender to Napoleone Bonaparte. The tower was rebuilt in 1930s and in the 1950s on the top of it a radio link was installed.
"...and in the 1950s on the top of it a radio link was installed."
Delete🤔 somehow this seems ignoble...
yes ... inappropriate.
DeleteGrand Dad, Son, And Grand Son, What A Post - Well Done - Dig Those Photos Across The Board There - All The Best With The Training Until Dec 5th - Stay Strong Brother BLK
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you. Son and Grand Son can do good performances. The Grand Dad is getting older but he will try to follow a good training schedule until Dec. 5th,
DeleteA very good week for you. A sports family who loves to compete which is a good way to stay in good healthy shape. Very nice post, now you can look forward to the next race. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I run to stay healthy but my son and, above all, my grandsons work hard to be competitive.
DeleteI love that you got to race with your son. You look so happy! Fun to watch your grandson play too. Have a great week ahead
ReplyDeleteYes, I am happy because the last race we ran together was in 2017 (he was faster than me).
DeleteIt's a pleasure to see the grandsons playing.
Have a great week you too.
I love the photos from your race! How great that you got to run with your son. But that little guy playing rugby? Can we talk about that? I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The little guy, Gabriele, plays in the local under 7 team. He is a fast wing (for now). The tournaments, organized by the Italian Rugby Federation, are official "one day meetings" with other teams of the Rome and Viterbo provinces. Today the teams were 6. Next meetings: 2 in March, 2 in April and 2 in May.
DeleteLove the rugby lads - I worked on some rugby books last year and got slightly obsessed with the British and Irish Lions for a bit! And great photos, the race photos are really nice, which is brilliant as it's not always guaranteed that race photos will be good, is it!
ReplyDeleteThe British and Irish Lions are a very good rugby team!
DeleteYou are right many race photos are not so good.
Great race pics Stefano! What a bummer Paolo did not register in time for the next race. How nice to have so many grandsons! Congratulations to Gabriele!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteRegistration reopened yesterday and another 300 bibs are guaranteed so Paolo will be able to race.
Me alegro que les haya ido bien en la carrera y que a tu nieto le hay ido bien en su juego. Te mando un beso y te deseo una genial semana
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a good week ahead.
DeleteHow fun to race with your son! Of course, I always love your pics :-) Congrats to your grandson & his team’s success!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope that my son continues to race.
DeleteThose photos where you are racing with your son are precious! I hope you file them in a special folder.
ReplyDeleteTo get that bird's-eye view of Tolfa you had to climb all the way up that rock! It was definitely worth it.
Rugby is big in South Africa - I need to start to learn the rules so I understand the game better! Did Paolo also play rugby?
I have 2 folders, one only about the races and another in chronological order.
DeleteI took the image of Tolfa from the top of the rock after 15 minutes climbing.
Paolo played rugby only for 1 year when he was 17 y.o. and I was the trainer. Gabriele is my daughter's son.
Lovely family time which is important. Happy times. The photos are lovely to see, smiles and seriousness on faces. The hills are looking lovely with a good view from the town/city.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Every week end my grandsons play and we enjoy to watch their matches.
DeleteOne of the great joys in life is to explore local cuisine, and anything involving black truffles sounds very appealing to me. You have very handsome grandsons and they appear to be following in the family tradition of athleticism. Bravo to all of you!
ReplyDeleteI always explore local cuisine when I go to race. The post-race lunch is part of the program!
DeleteI hope that my grandsons continue to play sport. Physical activity is important for their health.
We don’t have as many places that only do local food but I love it when we find them.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos, especially the one of you & Paolo running together where he’s giving the thumbs up to the photographer.
I well remember the narrow streets of Europe, although I’ve never been to Italy. Only places my husband’s work took him, and sadly it was never Italy.
Congrats to your grandson!
Thank you.
DeleteAround here every little town has special food and the owners of the restaurants are local families.
I hope one day you will be able to visit Italy.
Che bello il piccolo rugbista! 😀
ReplyDeleteGrazie. Ed è uno sport che gli piace molto.
DeleteI love all the photos and that you were able to enjoy a race with your son!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope to participate soon in other races with him.
DeleteRunning through an olive grove and then getting some olive oil at the end of the race, now this race sounds both fun and tasty! So good to see both you and your son running together again!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And after the race a relaxing lunch in a typical restaurant with local food.
DeleteHow wonderful to run races with Paolo and I see from your reply to Marcia that he was able to register for the December 5th race when they reopened registration. That's fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing so many beautiful pictures from both the race and the surrounding area.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, yes, I love eating food from local establishments when traveling!
Thank you. I am happy that he will be able to register for the race but has to be in hurry: registrations start tomorrow at 09:00 p.m.
DeleteNow the program is: race, post race lunch and shopping of local food (vegetables, fruits, cheese, preserves ecc.).
I enjoyed all the photos, Black Knight.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you were able to enjoy a race with your son!
Thank you. I hope he will race again with me.
DeleteWhT beautiful place, and weee... I can walk but never run! Uphill, too.... Respect. You don´t even look exhausted!
ReplyDeleteAnd hmmmm, black truffles! My T once said, when I used black truffles-oil on my carrot-salad, "what´s smelling like motor-oil here?!" Ingo doesn´t like it eather....
You have a big family, really nice!
Love local food!
Walking is a healthy activity too.
DeleteI didn't look exhausted because, being my first race after a lot of time, I didn't push hard.
Motor-oil ... indeed the smell is not so good but the taste is special.
great views... love them all.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day
Thank you, have a wonderful day you too.
DeleteGood to see you posting again BK. You look fit and running well. Congrats to your grandson on his rugby success. Perhaps he'll play against the Wallabies one day!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Gabriele is the Italian hope for rugby!!!!
DeleteWonderful photos of you and your family. Congrats on your race and to your grandson. Beautiful scenery and I love the moon capture. We do enjoy many of our local restaurants and food here. Good luck on the next race. Take care, have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Just yesterday I had lunch on the hills again.
DeleteHave a good week end.
Beautiful photos, and how nice that you can participate with your son! My eldest and I do marathons 'together', although he finishes more than 2 hours earlier than me!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and your son. Running the marathons "together" is a wonderful experience.
DeleteHola, está muy bien la familia corriendo juntos,.
ReplyDeleteLas fotos son muy bonitas.
Que tengas un buen fin de semana.
Saludos
Thank you. I like to share the same interests with my family.
DeleteHave a good week end.
