Running update. I made my last workout on sunday and since that day I am off. I felt tired but I had to finish the scheduled 10 km. The day before I made a long walk and the day before again a challenging 11 km (from home to the beach). As usual I didn’t listen to my body and on monday evening my mouth began to burn. The day after I had 7 ulcers on my tongue; the doctor said that it is “aphthous stomatitis/canker sore” due to stress and prescribed 3 different moutwashes, but the things went wrong. I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t eat, drinking was a terrible sufference and I felt every day weaker.
So I decided to went to a specialistic medic center where they confirmed the diagnosis but now I have to take antibiotics, cortisone and zinc tablets until next saturday.
Of course total rest and at the end of the cure a period of recover with only moderate walks.
Getting older doesn’t mean getting wiser!
Now I’m thinking to come back to my bicycle for a cross training.
July 2011: A jump in the past. As July 2019 was a failure with no races, now I post some memories relates to the month of July. Here is the Orbetello Night Run 2011. In the first pic from left: our humble esquire Massimo, Sir Giorgio and Sir Black Knight. I wear the outfit of the local running team sponsored by a shop for babies. Anna (Baby) was a classmate of mine in junior high school.
Wow, that sounds really painful...! I hope you'll be back to your old self soon!
ReplyDeleteYes it is. Thank you so much.
Deleteoh no so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well! That does sound painful. I hope with some rest you are back to yourself soon
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I must learn not to be in hurry.
DeleteOh wow the canker sores sound very painful. I hope the antibiotics work fast. Crosstraining on the bike sounds like a good idea.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good option to not stress too much my back and shoulders.
DeleteWell, I've been rocking the bike lately for cross-training ;-) Oddly, my three July race events all went very well, and all were in heat/humidity, and one was especially hilly. Coincidence? (sorry, I do not share your fondness for spiders...) ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou made the right thing. Your crosstraining has worked very well.
DeleteOh no! I had a really sore tongue after my ultra, which confused me but apparently it's quite common. I managed to sort it out with corsodyl mouthwash which is a powerful but disgusting tasting product. Hope you're feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Today is the first day that I don't feel pain. Mouthwashes didn't work this time, I needed a stronger cure.

ReplyDeleteCheers
Running, walking, biking, swimming, paddling ecc. are a big expression of freedom. Thank you very much for your support.
DeleteI love that you love spiders. I can't say as I really do, but for the most part they don't scare me either. Not a fan of the sticky feeling of webs, though.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the canker sores. They are an absolute misery. I used to be plagued with horrible ones -- but never that many at once. :( I have had times when I could barely eat due to them, but nowadays I don't get them very often and they're never as bad.
I really hope that the medicine works very quickly!
Bike riding sounds like a great plan.
Never had in tha past such kind of canker sores! This was terrible. Today is the first day that I don't feel pain. I have lost 2 kg. in 5 days.
DeleteOh, no! Hoping you feel better soon. I guess it pays to listen to our bodies, but I don't always do that either!
ReplyDeleteMy same problem, but I must learn to listen.
DeleteSorry tp hear about your painful mouth. Canker sores are terrible, hopefully the antibiotics will take care of the problem. Riding the bike for a time sounds like a good solution.
ReplyDeleteStay strong and have a good week ahead.
The antibiotics are working very well, thank you. Very soon I'll come back to run.
Deletei am not a runner but if i saw the spiders i would have no trouble getting in to high gear!! riding the bike sounds like a great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteOften also the most insignificant animals are nice to watch.
DeleteUgh to the mouth sores! Armchair quarterback here but it sounds like a virus to me. We're seeing a lot of that this time of year, sometimes accompanied by stomach issues as well. Not sure about antibiotics for it tho...I hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you are right but the specialist preferred to be sure because the "ulcers" were big and very painful, I couldn't talk and eat. However now I feel (almost) good.
DeleteThank you so much.
So sorry to hear about the mouth sores - I know how painful those can be. I hope that you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. The things now are going better.
DeleteOh so sorry about those canker sores - they sound painful! Hopefully you are on the mend now!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Yes, I feel better and I hope to run again during the week end.
DeleteAww man I hope you feel better soon!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. The things are going better.
DeleteHello, sounds like you could use a rest. I hope you feel better soon and the medicine works quickly. Take care and have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, at last I feel good but you are right, I must learn to rest more.
