Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

April 2019

April 2019: As usual my monthly mileage is low because, to avoid injures, I only run 3 times per week. However I alternate the workouts with long walks. Such workouts are mainly through ondulate paths with challenging uphills to be ready to race in the hilly towns around my city. The place of the next race will be Vetralla always in Lazio region, Viterbo province (see the pic):

No more swimming, the lanes in the pool are too crowded and I don't want to risk to receive blows on my shoulder. I will do it this summer in open sea.
Stats: 117,2 km (10 workouts + 2 races) and 13 long walks.

Old memories - April 1987: Below are 2 photos of a 11 km race I ran in my city 32 years ago on April 27, 1987: only 73 participants and my finishing time was 50:47.
As you can see we were pioneers: no volunteers, in the middle of the traffic, no runners behind and beyond. Another time: ancient cars, outfit in cotton, no Garmin but .... my shoes were the legendary Nike Elite Classic.

  2. I wouldn't be swimming either if the pool is crowded. Hate sharing lanes. Wow great memories! I was wearing Nikes back then as well!

  3. Okay Mister....I didn't know you were blogging again. I saw your comment on Marcia's post so I had to pop over here to say hello!!!! I miss our old blog days so I'm glad one of us is back at it again. I will definitely try to keep up better. I'm not running much. My foot is a mess and it's causing some other issues with my leg. But I pretend I still run so I keep trying and keep getting frustrated. I'm happy to read you're still running some. And racing - that's great! I love those old race photos too...I wish I had more from my early days running - I have none :(. Keep on being strong, my friend!

  4. Wow! To a race in the middle of traffic. I've done some races that aren't closed to traffic; it's never fun -- but at least there's support!

I feel you on crowded pools. It's been a long time since I swam. The pool I swim at is rarely crowded, which is why I like it; the community center it's in isn't the nicest but it is a nice pool.

    1. I swam a lot before the incident: 3 times per week swimming and 3 times running. Now I wait for summer for swimming again but no more in the pool.

  5. I only one 3x a week as well - also to try to avoid injury.

Wow, what great memories. I agree with you about crowded pools. It's just too easy to run into people and random shoulders!

    1. I enjoy to look again the old photos of my "running deeds" even if sometimes I am sad because in some of them there are friends that now run in heaven.
