Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

August - Signs of Autumn

August 2023 – Despite many days of heat and humidity I managed to run every other day as planned but I preferred not to race. On the cooler days I increased my speed but then the heat returned and therefore the only goal remained to keep the single mileage around 10km.
These are the numbers:
Total monthly mileage: km. 169.2 (105.1 m);
Workouts: 16;
Races: 0.

August in the past (Memories) -Even in past years I preferred to avoid races in August and so there aren't many memories. Here are 2 of them:

2010 – Ladispoli – km. 6: looking at the photo you can imagine how hot was that morning;

2017 – Arlena di Castro – km. 8: 3 laps around and inside a beautiful ancient hamlet.

2010 - Ladispoli

2017 - Arlena di Castro

Weekly running updateThe schedule of running every other day continues but now that the days are shorter I can start at 06:30 a.m. In preparation for the races I have started to include a weekly longer distance run.
Tuesday: km. 9.7;
Thursday: km. 10.7 (tempo-run);
Saturday: km. 15.2.
The first 10 km race is scheduled for sept. 24.

Signs of autumn: Fallen leaves, some swell and shorter days tell us that autumn is coming.

Fallen leaves

The dark has come!

Is Autumn coming? Any race in your calendar?

  1. How much time does it take you to run 10k? My son is timing himself and building strength. He did a much shorter distance on the treadmill, then multiplied to see how fast he could do a 10k. 😄 Not sure it works that way, but, hey, he's working on it. He's 16.

    1. Now I am slow, mainly I run 10 K in about 1:03:00 during the workouts and 57:00 racing. My PB was 39:20 in 1992.
      I am sure that he will be faster running on the streets.
      Is he member of any running team?

    2. He is not a member of a running team. He does Ninja Warrior and is trying to build up his strength.

    3. Thanks, btw! This gave him something to compare to.

    4. If you want to compare better his timing have a look to the results of the races near your home included the park runs https://www.parkrun.us/events/#geo=3.51/38.9/-96.41

  2. I'm surprise that there are races in Italy in August! It must have been brutally hot when you did them.
    Autumn has arrived here in Switzerland. It's darker and colder in the mornings. Time to get out the thicker bed covers!

    We are just starting to see early signs of autumn, but no fallen leaves yet.

  8. Well at least you are being heat smart and not over doing it in the heat of August. The video tells me it was rather windy, but then it's often windy by the sea.

    1. I learned too late to be a little smarter about running.
      Such strong wind is not usual here.

  9. I am glad that you are able to run, and for the sheer pleasure too, rather than with the aim of winning a race. Cool weather will be a very welcome arrival for you - as it will for all of us, in fact.

    1. Indeed I don't have any hope to win a race in my a.g.
      During the last 2 races I finished shoulder to shoulder with an older runner; he told me that he is 83 y.o. and participated in the Rome Olympics Games in 1960.

  11. The cooler weather is always the best for runners. We had a couple of Ironman participants die last month due to a storm that made the sea very rough. The race should have been cancelled. Lots of people said it was real bad. Happy running and have a wonderful new month.

    1. What a sad news! However Ironman is a very very tough race!
      Here many runners at the end of the races fall on the ground for the effort, for this reason I prefer to not race in July and August.
      Have a good month you too.
