Walking in Viterbo: Saturday afternoon my wife and I have gone to Viterbo for a walk in the downtown and to eat a delicious ice cream. Here are some pictures of the city.
Running update: Starting the workouts at 06.30 is a good option in consideration of the heat (this is the 4th heat wave of the season in Italy). However my body got used to this temperature and humidity and now I succeed in running faster (or better "less slowly") covering, every time, about 10 km. To increase the mileage I prefer to wait for late September when the heat has gone.
This week I have run 3 times:
Tuesday: 9,7 km ondulate;
Thursday: 9,7 km flat;
Saturday: 10,7 km ondulate.
In the meantime my son Paolo has come back to running and he made the decision to run with me the Appia Run on oct. 03: 13 km through an ancient and scenic part of Rome. The swag is not as rich as we use to get in the towns in Tuscia region but the organization and the landscape deserve the fee we pay.
Oh, that Appia Run sounds amazing! Will you be actually "racing" it, or just enjoying all the sights at a "somewhat fast" pace? Again, thanks for all the pics you share...it's so interesting seeing the architecture and landmarks where you reside and run ;-)
ReplyDeleteNot "racing" yet in early October, it will be the opportunity for a run with my son enjoying the place and to spend one day in Roma. I will do the speed works before the races with less participants; the events in Roma, like the Appia Run, are all very crowded.
DeleteYou're welcome, it's a pleasure to share the pics.
You are lucky to have so much access to beautiful places to walk! I'm hoping to get out and walk around my neighborhood before it gets too warm.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your walk.
DeleteViterbo and the near towns are beautiful places to visit. Moreover, before the pandemic, I entered many races around there.
ooooh what a pretty place!! it's always good to treat yourself to an ice cream in summer!! running - 0!! hehehehehe
ReplyDelete... and in good company with my wife! On the next week end my children and the grandsons will be with us too.
Deleteooooh that's awesome!!
DeleteWhat an exciting Olympics for Italy! When your men won the 4x100 relay I thought "I have a running friend in Italy!"
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures- looking forward to hearing about (and seeing) the Appia run soon.
Thank you, it's a honour to be your running friend!
DeleteAnd congrats to USA too, first with 113 medals (39 golden).
Of course before, during and after the Appia Run we will take many pictures.
Lovely photos, thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
DeleteYour photos on Fb are also very very beautiful.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty place. Ice cream is a yummy treat!
Take care, enjoy your new week!
An ice cream with my wife in the ancient main square of Viterbo: an experience to repeat soon!
DeleteWell done with your weekly running, Stefano! It must be very hot in Italy.
ReplyDeleteWe are finally getting some warm weather this week in Switzerland. On my bike ride yesterday I was freezing!
Glad that the weather is improving in Switzerland. Here, according to forecast, this should be the hottest week of the season.
DeleteEnjoy your rides!
That's so great Paolo will join you for the race! It is very hot here as well. We have a heat advisory and poor air quality due to the fires on the West Coast and in Canada. Good for you for getting out to run early! It is the best option in summer!
ReplyDeleteHere we had a local heat advisory for Aug. 11, 12 and 13. And I think that this will not be the last one in this season!
DeleteEnjoyable Photos - Well Done BLK Knight
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you!!!
DeleteI finally got used to running in the heat as well. I still don't like it and I am dreaming of fall!
ReplyDeleteI am dreaming of fall and a little of rain! Today I surrendered after 8,7 km because of the heat!
DeleteWhat a lovely place to walk!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos!
Thank you. Viterbo and it's province (named Tuscia) are full of beautiful places to visit: ancient towns with Etruscan and Medieval heritage.
DeleteOh how fun to run a race with your son! I hope that you both have a wonderful time. As always, thank you for sharing your beautiful country with us. Someday I hope to visit it!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA lot of things to see in Italy and .... what about a running race too?
