Why Black Knight

The name Black Knight comes from this famous joke in roman slang. A man tells this story:
The Black Knight and the White Knight make a duel and the Black Knight kills the White Knight. Now the White Knight had 3 sons, they challenge the Black Knight to a duel and the Black Knight kills all of them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 9 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills of all them. Now they had 3 sons each and the 27 White Knights challenge the Black Knight to a duel but the Black Knight kills all of them.
Please stop the story, what do you mean, what is the moral?
The moral is: "Don't piss off the Black Knight"!!!!!!!!!

After the troubles. Coming back to life.

It's been two years since my last post and it's been a very difficult time, marked by various health problems: some resolved, other stabilized.
Unfortunately, I cannot anymore run competitively, and this month, after more than two years, I returned to race, even if in a no-competitive event. Now I'm only running twice a week, at a very slow pace and no longer than 7 km (4.3 m). The goal is to enjoy running and, for this reason, I'm choosing routes in the suburbs where I can smell the atmosphere of the landscape and the 1960s-style neighborhoods, where all the buildings are surrounded by green parks. In the future, I'll be able to increase my distance, but not my speed, because the "bouncing" could cause problems at my fragile bones.

This was my last competitive race on May 05, 2024: Vetralla a very tough 10 km with a terrible uphill. In the first photo you can see the jacket that I wore for the first time in 1977 when I joined the Navy (in my next post I will say more about this topic):

And this is the no-competitive race that I entered in Civitavecchia on April 12, 2026. It was a flat race 4,1 km. long:

Have a good week

  4. Welcome back, Stefano! So good to read a post from you again.

That’s a tough road you’ve been on. Coming back after two years and standing on a start line again, even non-competitive, takes real grit. And I like how you’ve shifted the focus, slower, shorter, but actually enjoying the run and the surroundings. That’s a different kind of win!

  11. Nice to see you back. I’m not running races anymore either and not sure if I will run anymore at all for some of the same reasons as you. We do what we can and appreciate that we can do what we can. Hope you are well :)

  12. It's lovely to see you back and well done for getting another race done! I have a place in the Birmingham Half-Marathon tomorrow but won't be running as I'm on 5 miles maximum at the moment (nothing dramatic, just a long run of bouts of Covid, minor injuries and caring responsibilities). I hope you can continue to be as well and healthy as possible.

    1. Enjoy the 5 miles in the Birmingham Half-Marathon. Take care and get well soon so you can come back to run the whole 13,1 miles.
About myself I can't go back in time so I have to settle for achieving different, much less demanding goals.

    1. Thank you for the comment. It was hard for me but now I'm learning to appreciate the "touristic" runs. Moreover I will enter some no-competitive races to enjoy the atmosphere and spending one day in beautiful towns eating local food.
